Alicia Keys has been wowing fans by going make-up free

"Alicia gets regular facials, does acupuncture and she eats healthy and exercises," the beauty guru told W Magazine. "She knows you have to invest internally for your skin to look great externally."

She added: "It's also about how you process your energy. She comes from a very strong place and she comes from a very kind place. That in itself is super important. But it's about the choices she's making and the products she's using. It's the work of a good team."

Make-up artist Dotti revealed how the singer keeps her skin looking so radiant

To keep Alicia's complexion looking so smooth, Dotti has a handy solution: ice. "Right now, we're doing a lot of ice work to tighten skin, bring the blood to the surface. To basically give it the pop that you need. I stick a jade roller in ice, so it’s basically freezing when I roll it over her skin.

"I really, really work into all those areas where I want blood and water and energy brought to the surface. It brings her skin to life, it practically makes her skin say, 'Hi. I love you.'"

Alicia recently defended her decision on Twitter

Another natural skin must-have Dotti uses is cucumber, revealing she grates "a full cucumber, then place the pulp no higher than her brow bone and no lower than her under-eye bone, not going near sensitive parts of the eye".

Alicia caused a stir in the world of beauty earlier this year when she announced her decision to go make-up free every day, in an open message written for Lena Dunham's Lenny Letter. While the star has been praised by many for the brave move, she recently was forced to defend herself against critics who claimed it is a comment on those who do choose to wear products.

"Y'all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn't mean I'm anti-makeup," she explained to her 24.1 million Twitter followers. "Do you!"
