For award-winning dermatological surgeon and leading skincare expert Dr Dennis Gross, whose A-List clientele includes the likes the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoe Kravitz, Olivia Palermo and Jourdan Dunn, this means making sure his clients’ skin looks radiant and picture perfect throughout Hollywood’s biggest night in film.
Sitting down with HELLO!’s beauty editor Nadine Baggott, Dennis is more than happy to explain the red carpet treatment he regularly provides to his celebrity fans.
Dr Dennis Gross has revealed his secrets for red carpet-ready skin
"The typical pre-red carpet treatment is going be an alpha-beta peel, and then either a 3D laser or hydration mask depending on how aggressive they want to be," he says, explaining that 3D laser treatment stimulates collagen to bring back radiance without irritating the skin. "The reason peels are so popular is because it is the number one most effective way to literally, completely overhaul your skin. It brings back radiance, makes lines and wrinkles look better, sallowness is gone, and it’s instant."

Dennis’s gentle alpha-beta peel was so popular in his exclusive New York clinic that he even created an at-home version that is easy to use. "You can do the peel every day, you just have to follow the instructions. Apply step one to the whole face and leave for two minutes, then open the second packet (step two) and apply the pad all over the face until it’s completely dry. Don’t wash it off, and you’re done."

After your peel, Dennis recommends a moisturising mask, such as his hyaluronic marine hydrating modelling mask. "It’s a phenomenal way to plump the skin. I took hyaluronic acid put in an algae mask. It goes on as a gel and sits for five or 10 minutes, so it perfectly contours to your face. After that you peel it off your face as a sheet. You can then go right to [putting on your make up] and the look is astounding."

As for biggest skincare myths, the dermatologist’s answer was slightly unexpected: "Drinking water. It’s so good, everyone should drink more water, but to think that you can drink more water than the body needs to give your skin more hydration is not the truth. The skin regulates the amount of fluid in the bloodstream in a very tight way. There’s no such thing as overhydrating to get your skin moist."
Dennis top three products for younger, healthier looking skin, then, are a gentle peel, anti-aging serums and plenty of Vitamin C. "My motto is that gram for gram it is the most powerful anti-aging ingredient. I love Vitamin C."
