Diana Ross is offering up her "sensual memories" to fans in a new fragrance, called Diamond Diana. The R&B legend released her debut scent on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) on Wednesday, explaining her first ever perfume was designed to create a more intimate connection to her music. "This personal fragrance is inspired by the powerful connection between music and sensual memories," the Love Hangover hitmaker tells Women's Wear Daily in a statement.
Diamond Diana is selling for £71 a bottle exclusively on HSN and Ross is slated to promote the product by making a live appearance on the shopping network on 5 December, when the notoriously private superstar will share personal stories about her life. "It is an absolute honour to welcome Diana Ross to the HSN family and provide her with a platform to share not only her new fragrance, but the stories that have laid the foundation for her brilliant career," Carmen Bauza, chief merchandising officer of HSN, tells the outlet. "We look forward to having Ms. Ross share this incredible journey with our viewers."
STORY: How to survive all night in heels
Diana Ross has unveiled her debut perfume Diana Diamond
Everything about the new fragrance, including the packaging, was personally designed by the 73-year-old singer. The perfume comes in a black velvet jewellery box and is embossed with sparkling 24-karat gold dust, and the Diamond Diana purchase comes complete with a special message to fans from Ross herself. The perfume release coincides with her new album Diamond Diana: The Legacy Collection, a 15-song compilation that includes some of her greatest hits, which hit shelves in the U.S. on 17 November. The new scent hits the market 10 days after Diana wowed at the American Music Awards, where she was handed the Lifetime Achievement honour.
