She's been off our screens most of the summer enjoying a well-earned break, but Susanna Reid marked her return to TV on Sunday by keeping it real with a bare-faced selfie on social media. The 47-year-old uploaded a snap to her Instagram account showing her looking barefaced and natural, and accompanied it with a few of her musings on modern life. The picture shows Susanna with her brunette hair worn loose and natural, alongside a caption saying: "Before I get my glam out! This has been a life-changing summer for me. I've been lucky enough to spend lots of time with my family and good friends."

She continued: "For the most part I stayed off social media & that really helps to minimise the distractions you allow into your world when you don't need them. No twitter cuts down on the baiting & no insta removes the compare-and-despair we can all get sucked into. Looking forward to being back at it tomorrow, fully armoured & in my tv warpaint."

Her followers were quick to heap praise on her wise words, with one writing: "Good to see you back and with such a healthy glow. Glad you had lots of family time." Another added: "Still gorgeous without the makeup" and one wrote: "My Monday-Wednesday mornings are sorted again!!"

Earlier in the summer Susanna took to Twitter to defend herself from cruel trolls who had made negative comments about her performance on Good Morning Britain. She wrote: "Getting hit from left and right. Criticised for being too opinionated...and too quiet. Accused of being a snowflake and a [expletive]. Too liberal ... too enabling, good looking, but... My skin just gets thicker by the second. And we do it all again tomorrow @gmb 6am." We're happy to have you back, Susanna!
