It's fair to say that the rainbow trend is well and truly here to stay. It exploded onto the fashion radar in 2016 and it has been a permanent fixture ever since. Multi-coloured stripes in the brightest of colours pack a powerful punch and many high-end designers are taking on the bold hue – including Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Gucci. The thing we love most about technicolour stripes is that they instantly make a statement – and we challenge any wearer not to cheer up whilst wearing them. Sometimes donning just a splash of rainbow is best – mixing it in to your existing wardrobe to add pops of colour. There is a skirt on the block right now that is ideal for hinting at the trend without going overboard and it's from Olivia Rubin. The designer's rainbow sequin skirt is featuring all over our Instagram feeds, with its brightly coloured feminine design that features vertical stripes encrusted with sequins. It has a high waistband, is fully lined and has a concealed zip on the side. Despite its bold hues, it could be styled in a number of ways – with a shirt or blouse, a simple T-shirt or with flats, trainers or high heels.

The skirt has been restocked many times - especially after Eva Chen, Aimee Song of Songs of Style, Laura Willis of the Fashion Bug Blog and We Are Twinset's Philippa Bloom shared in on their Instagram accounts.

Thanks to the skirts phenomenal success, Olivia has reintroduced the rainbow skirt this season in a slightly darker tone, in more autumnal colours, ideal for when the weather changes.

Speaking about how her eclectic style, the mother-of-two told Female First: "I certainly always loved playing dress up - even as a kid. My mum is massively into fashion and always has been. I have kind of grown up seeing how women can transform themselves with clothes and really change their own mood that day or their feelings by dressing up."
