Now that's a dress. Actress Claire Foy showed us all how to work the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the 75th Venice International Film Festival on Wednesday. The Crown star chose a gorgeous pink and red gown with flowing cape detail from Valentino's Haute Couture Fall 18/19 collection for the star-studded event, wowing the crowds with her stylish look. The festival was the place to be with the likes of Naomi Watts, Lottie Moss, Georgina Rodriguez and Ryan Gosling all making an appearance. Claire's dress certainly stood out with its fun pink and red colour-blocking proving a chic choice for the star.
Details of Claire's stunning dress were posted on Valentino's Instagram page, along with a sketch of her outfit, which is by the fashion house's creative director, Pierpaolo Picciolo. Fans of the designer adored the dress, with many sharing their comments online. One wrote: "Loving that colour wave of pink & red.... stunningly elegant." Another said: "Stunning dress," and one follower simply said, "Perfection."

Claire teamed her dress with a pair of chic silver sandals with pretty string bow tie at the ankle. The actress wore her hair in a sophisticated slicked-back style and kept her makeup simple, with a bold sweep of eyeliner and nude lip. She accessorised with a silver statement ring on her left hand.
Claire is best known for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, for which she won Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama series at the SAG Awards. More recently she received rave reviews for her performance in the film Unsane.

Sadly, the star is not returning to her role in The Crown as she is being replaced by Victoria star Olivia Colman, who will play an older Elizabeth. Speaking recently to HELLO! about her successor, Claire said: "She's a genius, a wonderful human being. I can't offer anything to her, just admiration."
