Millie Mackintosh goes hell for leather in fringed dress

Party dress idea, number one

Millie Mackintosh is perhaps one of our favourite style inspirations for lessons in how to wear leather; the star is often pictured wearing leather trousers, sparking many of us to rush out and buy a wear to see us through autumn days and winter events. But on Tuesday night she made us want to try a whole new leather trend – a leather dress perfect for partying the night away in.

Millie oozed cool in a strapless leather midi dress, complete with on-trend fringing to a chic fashion party in London last night. She paired the dress, costing £150 from Very.co.uk, with vampy glitter toed heels. She kept the rest of her look pared back with her hair long and sleek, nude lips and a subtle smoky eye. Along with the dress, Millie has long been a fan of wearing leather.

Her love of a leather trouser has transcended many a season, from buttery leggings to patent trousers and she is a pro at dressing them up with heels and a slinky cami or dressing them down with cosy knits and boots.

As for a leather skirt, Millie doesn't just rely on a black mini version; she is a fan of rich burgundy skirts and shiny finishes, knee length or midi, worn with bare legs and casual tees.

And she makes a case too for the versatility of a leather jacket, come rain or shine. Whether a red carpet event or a festival, Millie often wears one not just as a cover up but as a key piece of her outfit. We love it when she layers one over a girly floral dress or bias-cut silk skirt but equally when she throws one on with jeans and knee-high boots.

If you want to copy the look for less, look for PU versions. The quality has come on leaps and bounds over the years, and can look just as luxe as the real thing.
