The Golden Globes gowns that left us in awe: from Kate Hudson to Margot Robbie

The ceremony was virtual, but the dresses were still fabulous

The 2021 Golden Globes are finally here, and the stars have not disappointed with their red carpet-worthy looks.

We say 'worthy', because most of the awards' nominees tuned into Sunday night's ceremony from home - due to the fact it was held virtually this year - but that doesn't mean the fashion standards slipped.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie's monochrome Chanel frock's cold shoulder sleeves, ruffled skirt and thigh split gave us glamorous summer vibes.

Kate Hudson 

The star looked beautiful in a white two-piece by Louis Vuitton, dressed by star stylist Sophie Lopez.

She also appeared on Twitter's livestream of HFPA Presents: Globes Countdown Live, looking beautiful in a candy pink strapless dress. We got a glimpse of her Los Angeles home, too.

For her final look, Kate opted for a Louis Vuitton black dress with a silver embellished bodice and off-the-shoulder sleeves.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek looked sensational in her vibrant red Alexander McQueen gown, which featured a striking asymmetric neckline, wrap waist and flowing Grecian-style fabric. She paired it with eye-catching Harry Winston jewellery.

Viola Davis

All hail Viola Davis! The actress' custom gown by Lavie by CK was made in traditional African fabric, accessorised with Pomellato jewellery.

Designer Claude Kameni wrote on Instagram: "@ViolaDavis in a custom #laviebyck gown. Thank you to her and her team for trusting us in designing and making this gown for her. Wow... Our first golden globes! What a way to end black history month."

Nicole Kidman

She may have celebrated the Golden Globes from the comfort of her own home, but Nicole Kidman still looked red carpet ready in her black and gold Louis Vuitton gown.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones modelled a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana dress. Although it came in a classic black colour, its thigh-split and asymmetric off-the-shoulder neckline added a modern twist. She finished off her look with rose gold earrings and a 5.73-carat princess-cut diamond ring by Chopard.

Renee Zellweger

Renee Zellwegger stepped out in a black fitted gown from Armani Prive, complete with a strapless sweetheart neckline.

Gal Gadot

Wearing custom Givenchy, Gal Gadot turned heads in her flowing white mini dress, adding a pop of colour with her red lips and some sparkle with her Tiffany diamond ring and earrings.

Best Actress and Best Original Song nominee Andra Day was radiant in her Chanel gown and jewellery.

Julia Garner

The Ozark actress looked stunning in her plunging Prada gown. The star was dressed by Elizabeth Saltzman, with flawless makeup by Hung Vanngo using Chanel Beauty.

Cynthia Erivo

The star turned heads on the red carpet in her neon Valentino dress, that's for sure! Cynthia was styled by Jason Bolden, adding Wempe earrings to finish her look.

We're loving Kristen Wiig's pastel green mini dress! The Prada design featured a strapless neckline and statement bows, and she paired it with sparkly heels.
