Lets face it, sometimes dainty and delicate just won't cut the mustard. As much as ultra fine chains and restrained jewels have a place day-to-day, sometimes only something truly spectacular will do. When it comes to utterly show stopping jewellery, the AW24 catwalks were awash with inspiration - think volume, colour and sparkle.

Wallflowers might want to look away, this is seriously attention seeking business. Think collar necklaces dripping with gemstones, gigantic earrings and hands stuffed with chunky cocktail rings.

What are the statement jewellery trends for 2024?

Boho has stormed back onto the scene, bringing pendant chains, beading and toe rings swinging back into our jewellery boxes too, as seen at Chloé and Bottega Veneta.

Chokers, yet again, are getting a look in and were spied at Chanel and Gucci, at the latter they resembled something you'd pick up at a hardware store, but were layered atop ribbons that perfectly matched the models' ensembles, to add a touch of softness.

Giambattista Valli went down their usual maximalist route with jewels piled upon jewels in soft, sugary pastel tones. Necklaces were layered and earrings swung at model's shoulders (also spotted at Zimmermann and Ralph Lauren).

Shoulder skimming sparkle

Unless it brushes against our shoulders as we dash for the bus, we're not interested! Seriously long earrings were spotted at Zimmermann, Ralph Lauren and Chanel, all resplendent with some seriously sparkly jewels.

  • Gold Oval Stone Drop Earrings

    River Island

Don't sleep on River Island's jewellery offerings, they're a hotbed of OTT pieces with serious shine that make the perfect finishing touch to any Autumn ensemble.

Like a charm

An oversized charm necklace at Vivienne Westwood AW24

Eclectic in nature, the charm bracelet (and necklace) took centre stage at Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood's AW24 collection, where all the jewellery looked like it had been swiped from a wealthy eclectic aunt's jewellery. box. We love.

  • Maxamillion Charm Necklace

    Free People

An eternal classic, we love the whimsical nature of charm jewellery and this vintage inspired piece will be the perfect partner for even the simplest of ensembles.

Cuff it

Golden cuffs with matching silk dresses at Menchen Tomas

Make a major statement this season with a thick bracelet in a glossy metallic hue, as spotted at Menchen Tomas where they rested on the wrists, while at Enfants Richés Deprimes they sat on the model's upper arms.

Chokers

You just can't beat a choker when it comes to staging a little neck drama, and their slightly gothic nature makes them perfect fare for the AW season as the nights start drawing in.

Face the music

A giant necklace with face pendant at Etro AW24

Always a go-to for wearable jewellery with an eclectic edge, for AW24 Etro emblazoned their necklaces and earrings with faces. Gives a whole new meaning to the term two-faced, eh?

This serene moon face couldn't fail to bring a smile to all who spot them. Why not wear with the matching pendant?

Super studs

Noisy necklaces

Boho inspired necklaces at Chloé AW24

We feel like we can hear this picture and the jingle-jangle of of metallic medallions clinging against each other as you walk down the street. A maximalist approach to chic simplicity.

  • Multi-Link Necklace

    Zara

Candy colours

Pastel coloured sparkling necklaces at Giambattista Valli AW24

Giambattista Valli never fail to deliver outstanding jewellery that a magpie would fight you for. The delicate confectionary colour palette seen here juxtaposes perfectly with the hefty weight of thick jewels and chunky chains.

  • Pink Sand Candy Chain Bracelet

    Stone & Mason

    The Details

Gloriously chunky, this bracelet also comes in a necklace version and in no less than 8 colours. We'll be purchasing them all and stacking them to dizzying heights.

Cut the ribbon

Braided ribbon earrings at Simone Rocha AW24

A round of applause for Simone Rocha whose earrings made of ribbons tied in neat bows in monochrome shades crossed the bridge between jewellery, hair accessory and clothing itself. Clever stuff.

  • Rosette Bow Satin Earrings

    Simone Rocha

    The Details

    • Composition: Satin

Shop straight from the runway with these cute Simone Rocha earrings, in her signature bows (there are four here stacked above each other). The trailing ribbons will graze your shoulders too.

Long layered necklaces

Long necklaces at Chanel AW24

An off-shoot of the boho resurgence, long chains stacked atop each other were seen at Chanel and Isabel Marant. The former opted for more formal pearls and gems, while the latter's AW collection went for a mis-matched approach, combining pieces that evoked far flung destinations.

  • Layering Chain Set in Gold

    Laura Vann

    The Details

    • Composition: 18ct Gold Plated

This set is comprised of three of the brand's classic chains and can be worn individually for a subtler approach, or all at once for maximum impact. We'll be doing the latter for sure.
