Those of us blessed enough to have grown up with a sister will know that there comes a certain point when all you want to do is carve out your own sense of style. One stolen (and accidentally ruined) dress makes for the straw that breaks the camel's back, propelling you to desperately seek your own, unique look – one that is worlds apart from that of your sibling.
Granted, Kendall and Kylie Jenner are probably way beyond the borrowing clothes stage, but it seems their contrasting styles have extended into adulthood.

And what better occasion to show off their opposing tastes than at an event that celebrates the brightest minds in fashion design? On Monday night at Casa Cipriani in New York, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held an utterly star-studded awards ceremony to honour trailblazers in the American fashion sphere.
Suffice to say, guests were dressed to the nines, and Kendall led the way in a sleeveless white maxi gown, styled by Dani Michelle. Courtesy of cult-favourite brand Khaite, her dress was adorned with lustrous sequins and featured a plunging V-neckline. Looking positively angelic, the supermodel teamed her 'Carina' gown with barely-there thong-style sandals, giving off a certain summery ease. Her geometric gold earrings, from Khaite's collaboration collection with Elhanati, were strongly reminiscent of the Greek Meander pattern, which only added to the unspoken theme of ethereal radiance.
Kylie, on the other hand, came through with a look that exuded gothic glamour, courtesy of stylists Alexandra Rose and Mackenzie Grandquist. The beauty mogul stepped back in time, donning a vintage piece by Thierry Mugler from its autumn/winter 1999 collection. Her striking black gown featured a fitted mesh one-shoulder bodice, a single sleeve, and a plush thigh-slit skirt, and paired perfectly with sleek stilettos.

Clearly Kylie isn't quite ready to say goodbye to spooky season just yet – even her jewellery choices took our breath away. The 25-year-old rocked white gold and diamond pavé earrings and a chunky ring, both from the Bulgari's Serpenti collection, starring the brand's signature snake motif.
Polar opposite tastes, and yet when it comes to sartorial prowess, these two are peas in a pod.
