Irish acting talent Nicola Coughlan is a force to be reckoned with, not only on-screen, but also within the fashion sphere. The 35-year-old captivated audiences with her hilarious portrayal of Derry Girls' Clare Devlin, and her endearing Penelope Featherington in Neflix's hit series Bridgerton, but the other area in which she never fails to deliver is red carpet dressing.

From frou-frou Richard Quinn Met Gala moments, to flouncy Selezza co-ords – Nicola is all about making a statement via indulgent textures and an injection of volume. The actress showcased her striking sense of style yet again on Tuesday night at Glamour's Women of The Year Awards, rocking a look that exuded gothic glam.

Nicola, who was the recipient of the night's Television Actor Award, opted for a custom black long-sleeved midi dress by Emilia Wickstead. The London-based label excels in ultra-flattering, demure silhouettes that, according to the brand, have come to epitomise "modern femininity". With an aesthetic that blends "traditional with contemporary", but with an "insistence on quality", Emilia Wickstead makes for an ideal designer favourite of the Princess of Wales, who has turned to its pieces time and time again for her public appearances.

Styled by Aimée Croysdill, Nicola wore an elaborate, textured design with a 1950s-style skater skirt and a subtle midriff cut-out. The star dialled up the drama with satin heels and the most exquisite jewels – an opulent cocktail ring, drop-down earrings, and a lavish bracelet – all courtesy of heritage brand Swarovski.

Right the way down to her glossy black manicure, Nicola was serving 'grown-up goth' – and we can't get enough. A dramatic charcoal, smoky eye by makeup artist Neil Young added to her all-black theme, contrasted only by her rose-pink lip and warm strawberry blonde locks, fashioned into an unfussy side parting by stylist Halley Brisker.

Forget goth-girl summer, goth-girl autumn is where it's at.
