Jessica Chastain is continuing to show her support for women in Iran who continue to face incomprehensible blockades to their freedom.
The 45-year old Oscar nominee wore a T-shirt with Mahsa Amini’s name repeated across it in bold, bright pink lettering for an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday (November 16). She paired the t-shirt with a camel trouser-suit and black Christian Louboutin stilettos, sporting her signature red hair as she headed to the studio in New York City.

Mahsa Amini was 22 years old when she died after being arrested in Iran’s capital city Tehran for allegedly breaching the country’s dress code laws for not wearing her hijab correctly.
Chastain – like many other celebrities – has been vocal about her support for Iranian women. She has used her Instagram platform as a way to highlight the severity of the situation and promote awareness. One of the actress’ posts read “ [...] #MahsaAmini’s death kicked off protests for basic human rights in Iran that were long overdue”.

As of October, the Iran's Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported around 222 deaths were estimated due to the protests after Mahsa Amini’s death, according to the BBC.
As the actress sat on stage in her statement tee, she announced that she was returning to Broadway to star as Nora Helmer in A Doll’s House, directed by British director Jamie Lloyd. The original play, written by Henrik Ibsen and published in 1879 was disruptive for its time. Nora is the protagonist who is in a suffocating relationship, with her life controlled by her husband. The play centres around the repercussions of her actions when trying to exert autonomy on her own life.
A brilliant watch and another important story to be heard about the repercussions for women when trying to take control over their own life.
