If there was also a 'Best Dressed' award…

There's never a dull moment at the AMAs – partially because the invitees wouldn’t be invited if they were dull. But primarily because year after year, the most talented musicians in the industry bring their A-game when it comes to award winner-worthy attire.

Some of course are more memorable than others… remember Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball cat look in 2013?

This year however, the standout fits of the night were for the right reasons, as celebrities looked top-tier at the American Music Awards 2022 in Los Angeles on Sunday (November 20).

The 50th year of the event, the 50th year of celebrating the world’s favourite songs of the moment. It-girl of 2022 Taylor Swift went home with both 'Artist of The Year' and 'Favourite Pop Album' (no surprises there), whilst Harry Styles' hit As It Was made him winner of 'Favourite Pop Song'. Though not everybody won an award for their music, they were certainly nominated for our fictitious 'best dressed' award. Here's some of our favourites.

Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding dazzled in a Philosophy di Lorenzo Seraphini two-piece that showcased her toned figure. The British singer paired the midi-skirt and asymmetric ensemble with some silver barely-there heels, plenty of silver jewellery and stick-on make-up gems to match those on her outfit.

Dove Cameron

Dove Cameron at the AMAs 2022

Dove Cameron perfected the goth-chic glamour look (as always) as she rocked a monochrome Marc Jacobs ensemble on the red carpet. The white corset style crop top was paired with a black maxi skirt and fingerless gloves, with what looks like a puffer jacket layered as the outer tier of the skirt. Perfect for this time of year. Finally, if there’s one accessory Dove always makes sure wows the crowd as much as her outfit, it’s her nails. These incredible stiletto nails were created by celebrity favourite couture nail artist, Juan Alvear.

Taylor Swift

Not only did T-Swift steal the show by going home with the most awards, she also made a statement in a backless gold jumpsuit from The Blonds – perfect for this party season. She teamed it with Guiseppe Zannoti heels, dangly earrings and her signature red lip, with loosely curled hair that gave ultimate 1970s vibes.

Other winning looks from the evening:

Kelly Rowland

The Destiny’s Child star wowed in a strapless cheetah print ball gown from Nicolas Jebran. The dress was paired with long patent leather gloves and black stilettos. Jewellery wasn’t necessary as the dress did all the talking.

Meghan Trainor

We think the memo Meghan Trainor received was ‘barbiecore glitz’ for this event, as she wowed in a custom bright pink suit from Michael Costello with matching chunky pink shoes. Iridescent from head to toe, the Made You Look singer let the clothes do the talking, by wearing minimal silver jewellery, her hair loosely waved, and soft pink make-up.

Roselyn Sanchez

Roselyn wore the cut out dress of dreams, custom made by Falguni Shane Peacock. The added statement shoulders and thigh-high split made her stand out from the crowd.

Karreuche Tran

This exquisite floor length black dress from Chrisitan Siriano brought sophistication as well as drama. The sculpted bodice with surrealist dimensions that framed her face… need we say more?
