Choosing footwear to suit an outfit can be a difficult decision as it is. And throwing some snow into the mix leaves us flummoxed as to what will keep our feet dry, prevent us from slipping over and still look chic. Cue: Hello! Fashion's round-up of effortlessly stylish snow boots.

Practicality doesn’t need to override appearance, as we’ve found the best boots to stay equally as warm and sophisticated as possible. Thankfully, our favourite designers are also sartorially savvy with footwear suitable for the frosty weather.

Cult classic brands are always a reliable source of winter footwear. If trending treds is how you prefer to search, influencer favourites like UGG and Moon Boot have ample options to keep your feet current. Brands like Penelope Chilvers and Camilla Elphick - both favourites of the Princess of Wales' - also have snowshoe options fit for a queen. Or, if splurging on one piece of footwear to reuse every year is more your thing, then high-end heroes such as Isabel Marant, and Gucci have some super chic options to make your feet feel a million dollars.

How we chose:

Practicality: Though the focus of this piece is chic footwear, there is also no compromise on practicality. All of the footwear included is waterproof, lined for warmth and suitable for walking in the snow, be it on the slopes or in the streets.

Budget: I've found a range of pieces that are practical and stylish for every budget. Starting at £45, these pieces go to around £880.

Style:  I chose an array of boots in various colours and silhouettes, offering a wide range of choices. Drawing on my expertise in fashion, I constantly stay abreast of the latest trends. In this roundup, I've meticulously chosen styles from both high-end and high-street brands. Though all of the snow boots below are fashionable right now, I've chosen ones in styles that reflect current trends, anticipate future ones, or possess timeless appeal.

How to Style Snow Boots:

Consider the colour of your snow boots: Neutral colours like black, grey, or brown are versatile and can easily match with various winter outfits. Make sure your winter coat complements your snow boots. Coordinating colours or styles can tie your entire winter look together. Create a sleek and sophisticated appearance by wearing similar shades from head to toe. This can make you look taller and slimmer while maintaining a polished winter style

Layer with Socks And Leggings: Add some personality with cozy, textured, or patterned socks that peek out at the top of your snow boots. This can be a fun way to incorporate your personal style. Tuck leggings into your snow boots to create a streamlined look. This not only keeps your legs warmer but also adds a chic touch.

Incorporate Textures: Mix and match textures to add visual interest to your outfit. For example, pair your snow boots with a chunky knit sweater or a faux fur-trimmed coat.

15 Chicest Snow Boots for 2024

  • Cosmos Suede Boot - Brown

    Penelope Chilvers

Sometimes less is more, particularly if wanting to don your snow boots in the streets as well as the slopes. I'm obsessed with this neutral pair from Penelope Chilvers - the buttery brown shade is so on trend right now.

  • Women's GG Chevron Boot

    Gucci

Quiet luxury lovers, look away now. If you're welcoming logos back in 2024, these boots are the perfect way to say goodbye. Not only does it boast Gucci's GG logo in nylon jacquard, but bold red and green stripes make it utterly clear which brand you're wearing. Logomania is back and I am here for it.

  • Silver Bomber Star Snow Boots

    Silver Bomber Star Snow Boots

    Inuikii

For those who are fans of metallics, we've found the ultimate boots. Inuikii has taken the cult-adored shoe trend and given it the ultimate winter-appropriate makeover.

  • Winter Boots

    Adidas x Stella McCartney

If sustainability is a factor in your snow boot shopping decisions, look no further than Adidas' collaboration with Stella McCartney. Made from vegan materials, the two fashion giants have created a pair of boots that feature an elasticated closure at the top to stop air from getting through. I love that the pattern is interesting without being too overbearing and will pair with plenty of outfits.

  • Classic Low 2 Boots

    Moon Boot

Moon Boots are as coveted on the slopes as they are off. The 60s-born brand has become an influencer favourite over recent years.  Red is a major trend for this year and these will certainly make an entrance at the Apres ski...

  • SOREL Caribou fleece-trimmed nubuck and rubber snow boots

    Caribou fleece-trimmed snow boots

    Sorel

Given their classic and versatile design, these boots have become a longtime cool-girl approved favourite. One feature that sets these boots apart for me is the calf-skimming cut. This design allows you to tuck in trousers securely, it's a small detail, but it makes a significant difference in style and functionality.  For a laidback look, I might opt for a pair of dark denim jeans, a knit and a longline coat. Whether I'm running errands in the city or enjoying a snowy hike, these boots are reliable companions in colder months.

  • ALPINE BAMBI PRINT BOOTS

    Alpine Bambi Print Boots

    Camilla Elphick

Thanks to the 'mob wide' trend animal print is back with a bang, and the 'Bambi print' calf hair of these boots gives the trend the chicest makeoevr. They're perfect for any occasion from the slopes to the streets.

  • MONCLER GENIUS + adidas Originals rubber-trimmed GORE-TEX snow boots

Moncler Genius + adidas Originals snow boots

    Moncler

The fact that these boots are insulated and made from durable, waterproof GORE-TEX is a game-changer for me – I can tackle snowy terrain with confidence, knowing my feet will stay warm and dry. The exaggerated rubber soles not only add a touch of cool and contemporary style but also provide excellent traction. I appreciate the attention to detail in the design, and the silver eyelets shaped like Moncler's distinctive bell logo add a subtle yet striking element to the overall aesthetic.

  • Padded Ankle Boots

    Bershka

Thought Barbiecore was so 2023? Think again. Romance is fully on the fashion cards for 2024, and this budget-friendly Berhska pair give the chunky boot a feminine touch. The platform sole and metallic designed give them a touch of 70s disco.

  • Antwerp suede and Shearling Lace-up Boots

    Bogner

The gold hardware against the black material makes these boots look ultra-sophisticated. I also love the shearling effect on the outside of the boot as well as the lining. Note: these boots do have a narrower fit due to the lining.

  • BOGNER La Plagne 1 snow boots

    La Plagne 1 snow boots

    Bogner

Whether I'm hitting the slopes or exploring snowy landscapes, these boots are primed and ready for the challenge. Their sleek black design makes them incredibly versatile, allowing me to pair them with a range of winter outfits. I can imagine rocking them with a pair of slim-fit snow pants, a cozy insulated jacket, and a stylish pair of wraparound sunnies. The contrast of the black boots against a snow-white backdrop would not only look chic but also make a bold statement. For a more casual look, I might opt for a pair of distressed denim jeans, a chunky knit sweater, and a long puffer coat.

  • Borg Mid-Leg Snow Boots

    Pajar

I'm absolutely in love with these snow boots. The cream and tan colourway caught my eye immediately, and the combination of shearling and nubuck for the upper adds a touch of luxury and warmth that I find irresistible. The brown and white colour combination is versatile and lends itself well to a variety of winter outfits. The mix of textures from the shearling would add depth and interest to the overall look. For a more casual vibe, I might pair them with corduroy and a turtleneck sweater.

  • Womens Yose Puffer Mid Boot

    Womens Yose Puffer Mid Boot

    UGG

For the cool-girls who like simplicity, these are the ultimate boots. The completely black colourway is utterly timeless.

  • Isabel Marant boots

    Zimlee Quilted Snow Boots

    Isabel Marant

These cream Isabel Marant boots are a great investment piece for those looking for a designer buy. Featuring protective leather and lace-up ties to adjust the snug fit and the graphic 'Marant' logo at the back, they ooze cool.

  • Snow Boots - The North Face

Women's Thermoball™ Waterproof Lace Up Winter Boots

    The North Face

The North Face has become the pinnacle of gorpcore over recent years.  I love the completely neutral colourway of this pair.
