What could be more Y2K than this look?
Why does this matter so much? Well it does matter, because it is proof that we have finally reached peak Y2K obsession. There has never been an outfit more evocative of an era than that of Katie Holmes blue silk mini dress, baggy frayed jeans and black new balance trainers. Her nostalgic look harked back to simpler times, when we were all going wild for her as Joey in Dawsons Creek.

While we’ve all been obsessing over reviving low rise jeans and juicy couture tracksuits Katy Holmes has just taken it up a notch. It’s Y2K with a polished edge. We are still screaming. It’s simply iconic. The internet has gone wild over her latest lewk and the internet reactions have been mixed. Some have applauded her boldness, and others have not been keen on the fashion statement. Writer Sophie Ross addressed the haters with an excellent retort saying, “If Bella Hadid wore this you guys would be singing a different tune I’ll tell you that much.”

Others including @Lights_camera_friction have commented, “cant stop thinking about this Y2K cultural reset ? Katie Holmes at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 12/9/22” and @Luke_katiefan who said “Social media is loosing their s*** over Katie wearing a dressy top with jeans but she's been doing it for years and looking amazing!!!” Comedian Heather McDonald even took to TikTok to recreate the look.
