With all of the excitement building around Margot Robbie’s latest film to be released Babylon, we almost forgot that she is starring as the eponymous character in the movie Barbie premiering in summer 2023. A new trailer released today lasting a mere 1 minute and 14 seconds was enough to revamp the anticipation.
We’ve witnessed the Hollywood actress nail cowgirl Barbie, convertible Barbie and rollerblading Barbie, and now the trailer blesses us with three more outfits, allowing the excitement to begin and the nostalgia to kick in.

To begin, a life sized Barbie appears (aka Margot Robbie) glowing in a black and white striped strapless swimsuit, resulting in little girls smashing up their boring plastic dolls. It’s probably an accurate reenactment of children at the time as over 300,000 were sold in its first year of production.
Though this beach look pays homage to the outfit worn by the first ever Barbie doll in 1959, it aptly resembles a monochrome outfit sported by Kendall Jenner this week, who was channelling her inner Wednesday Addams. Who knew Barbie and Wednesday could have so much in common? 60s mod sunglasses with a chunky white frame and black slip on sandals completed the monochrome look, and the ultimate pin curled fringe finished the OG doll ensemble.

Barbie without pink is like us without Margot Robbie’s iconic wardrobe – miserable. Fear not, we see the Babylon actress in a baby pink gingham swing dress, complete with a matching bow with similar hued court shoes and loose bouffant tresses, throwing us back to Margot’s bleach blonde era. She’s giving Amber Von Tussle (played by Brittany Snow) from Hairspray a run for her money.

We also get a glimpse of Margot as a disco Barbie wearing a sequin jumpsuit, which is actually perfect this party season, along with many of Margot’s recent looks from this chic white suit to this leather coat look.

Fans have gone wild since the trailer release, with one Youtuber @OnePresence commenting on the Warner Bros clip: “Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man, Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, Margot Robbie IS Barbie. Perfect casting right there.” We could not agree more.
Barbie will be released in the UK in July 2023. Margot’s promo tour fits are guaranteed to be just as stellar as her Barbie ensembles.
