Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the New Year's reception for the diplomatic corps at Christiansborg Palace on January 3, and as usual when it came to the style stakes the Australian-born future monarch did not disappoint.
The royal donned a dress from Danish luxury brand Heartmade by designer Julie Fagerholt. The label was founded in 1998. The brand has since become a dedication to refined bohemian and Scandinavian minimalism with strong prints and sense of sophistication. “Each collection features the finest craftmanship and we are embracing handmade creations, special selected materials, and long-lasting designs,” the brand explains on its website. Mary has actually worn the gown several times before, to events in both in 2010 and 2017, showing her dedication to keeping a circular wardrobe.
The royal is champion of sustainability
She paired the long sleeved silver gown, featuring an intricate pattern with the Hugo Boss Clutch in Grey Suede. Keeping the look monochrome she teamed the outfit with Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 105’ Fumo Grey Suede Pumps.
The appearance came two days after the Danish royal family led by Queen Margrethe were out in force for their annual New Year's Gala Dinner in Copenhagen on January 1. Again we saw Mary champion sustainability wearing a bespoke Lasse Spangenberg gown she has worn before, and J.Furmani Stone Flap Clutch in Silver. The ultimate accessory however was the Danish Ruby parure, a favourite tiara of Mary’s.

The royal has been busy with royal duties following a relaxing break to Australia with her husband and children. The royal family spent Christmas in the land down under this year, following a five year absence from Mary's place of birth. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, Princess Mary championed a cult favourite Australian designer during her visit.
Eagle-eyed royal watchers and fashion fans identified the dress she wore on holiday as being from Australian luxury brand Zimmerman. The Kaleidoscope midi dress is part of the brand's AW22 Stargazer collection. Typically we see Princess Mary sporting Danish designers, in her role as future Monarch of the Scandinavian kingdom, but clearly she hasn't forgotten about the esteemed designers of her homeland.
