When we think about Jennifer Lopez’s stellar acting roles (the epitome of a person who is good at everything), we might think: criminal mastermind (Hustlers), approachable girl-next-door type with wicked stepmother (Monster In Law) or maybe ‘hard working single mother who deserves her happy ending’ (Maid in Manhattan). But did we ever have her down as a one of the Mean Girls?
We did not. But it appears JLo channelled her in ‘Plastics’ in her latest appearance to promote her new rom-com movie Shotgun Wedding, and we’re here for it.

The newlywed (lucky you Ben Affleck) looked pretty in pink, wearing an elegant blush midi dress from Magda Butrym. The ruching gave a flattering silhouette, whilst the high neck and corsage neck detailing (a signature of the brand) lent it the ultimate elegance.
Tonal spring dressing was on the agenda, styled by her longterm stylist Rob Zangardi. The multifaceted singer-actress-beauty entrepreneur donned a pink coat over her ruched dress – also from Magda Butrym, with nude strappy heels and one of Coach’s coveted shoulder bags. She has been a global brand ambassador for the New York fashion house since 2019. Her hair was pinned up with two front pieces left down loose to frame her face. Paired with a soft pink face glam, the look gave classy whimsical-chic vibes.

Thanks to TikTok (and the apparent need to label everything a “core”), ‘Barbiecore’ was top of the sartorial schedule for 2022. But our 2000s icon Lopez has spoken, and reminded us of the era when wearing pink was only synonymous with the middle of the week. She aptly captioned her Instagram carousel of images “On Wednesdays we wear pink ?? @shotgunweddingmovie @primevideo”
JLo is stepping into her Mean Girls era (or Barbiecore if you wish). This week she also wore a hot pink sports bra and shorts set in a promotional video for sports drink ‘Bodyarmor’.

Lest we forget that JLo made Juicy Couture's velour tracksuits cool by wearing one in her 2001 music video for I'm Real. And what colour was the tracksuit? That's right, bubblegum pink. A style muse if we ever saw one.
