It wasn’t long ago that Dawson’s Creek actress Katie Holmes divided the internet when she wore a blue mini dress and jeans combo. Aside from creating the illusion that we were back in 2000 actually watching the show, Holmes blew ‘Y2K’ out of the water and absolutely nailed the nostalgic trend.

The look was sourced from Tove's SS23 collection, a brand only founded in 2019, who have classic versatility at the top of their mission agenda. Now, Katie has sported the eco-conscious brand in another two looks – twice in one day. And the timeless yet on-trend leather jacket is currently on sale.

Katie headed to the Good Morning America studio to promote her new off-Broadway show, The Wanderers channelling ‘mixed metallics and elevated staples’. She wore the ‘Aneta’ leather coat from Tove, layered over a white blouse and opulent wide leg ‘Deep Pocket pants in champagne’ from New York brand Kallmeyer. It seems champagne satin was the dress code for outings in NYC on January 11, as Angelina Jolie stepped out looking ultra elegant, wearing the same colour.

There was no toning down the metallic for Tom Cruises former wife, pairing her lustrous trousers with shiny silver court wedges, and a turquoise suede bag from Savette.

After entering the studio in her dazzling ensemble, she had her own 27 Dresses moment and stepped back outside in a different outfit. This time she opted for earth-toned chic, wearing navy and white neoprene Chanel tops (yes, plural), sourced from vintage shop God of Cloth, and another pair of Kallmeyer wide-leg pants in a mahogany brown shade.

Uncomplicated dressing was a prerequisite to being a 2000s icon. And both Angelina and Katie showed us how to incorporate statement pieces to elevate various outfit styles. Whilst Angelina sported the same YSL clutch bag going from day to night, Katie upped the versatility ante by wearing the same coat, bag and shoes with both of her looks.

A sophisticated, timeless example of the significance of the of the Y2K era.
