Princess Sofia of Sweden attended the Swedish Sports Awards Gala on January 16 in her typical à la mode style, and totally convinced us that we need a fitted bardot top to pair with tonal straight leg trousers immediately.
The annual event was back to full capacity at the Avicii arena in Stockholm for the first time since pre-Covid, with the 2021 and 2022 events pared back.

The princess is extremely well-versed in the ‘sartorially chic, on trend and yet still elegant’ department, and isn’t afraid to experiment with her style agenda. This time she amped up the Meghan Markle-approved off the shoulder neckline, wearing an incredible black two piece.
The mother-of-three wore a pair of wide leg trousers from Dorothee Schumacer, paired with the matching double breasted top. The off-the-shoulder style of the top and cinched waist creates an elegant silhouette. The matching trousers boast a high waist and front crease, keeping this stylish suit formal.
Bardot is a royal staple style. Princess Kate Middleton sported not one, but two green dresses with a similar neckline last year, whilst the Duchess of Sussex owns many-an-outfit that elegantly shows the shoulders. She wore a monochrome version of Princess Sofia’s look to open the Invictus Games last year, opting for a classy cream bodysuit from Khaite and black high-waisted trousers.

Princess Sofia paired her black ensemble with chunky blue velvet pumps from Jimmy Choo and a black Bottega Veneta Knot Clutch Bag. As wonderful as it is that her versatile two piece is around the £500 mark, she accessorised with a pair of ‘Gypsy’ earrings from Ole Lynggaard – a Danish fine jewellery brand.
The statement earrings crafted with “18 karat yellow and rose gold, 12 brilliant cut, bezel-set diamonds, 276 pavé-set diamonds totalling 1,35 carat TW.VS, and 6 freshwater pearls” possess a £15,700 price tag. Why not take a leaf out of Meghan Markle’s book and opt for her dangle earrings from Carolina Herrera, costing a sensible £130.
