Emma Roberts just twinned with aunt Julia Roberts' iconic red dress moment in Pretty Woman

The famous relatives have plenty in common when it comes to their style

January 18, 2023

Emma Roberts has once again proved that she bears more than a passing resemblance to her famous relative Julia Roberts.

The 31-year-old actress was seen in SoHo, New York on January 17 on her way to the Maybe I Do screening in a red off the shoulder dress that had us all reminiscing over her aunt’s iconic red gown she donned in 1990 cult-classic film Pretty Woman.

Emma wore a striking red outfit to the screening of her latest film

Despite the fact that the feel-good rom com about escort Vivian Ward (played by Julia of course) is over 30 years old, the bardot chiffon gown Julia wears in the movie is etched into our fashion consciousness eternally. The dress Julia’s character wore to attend the opera La Traviata, was paired with white elbow-length gloves and a ruby necklace gifted by Richard Gere’s character Edward Lewis.

Emma for her part kept things more casual in her red midi dress which hailed from  Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The stunning dress features a button down front, sheer skirt and ruched bodice. Entrusting her stylists Brit Hines Smith and Kara Smith, she paired the outfit with Khaite's coveted 'Lilith' bag. To finish off they teamed the look with strappy red heels, and Emma donned a bold red lip, similar to Julia’s red lip in the iconic film. For jewellery she wore vintage 19th century diamond pendant earrings and a ruby and diamond ring from Fred Leighton.

To make the coincidences even more acute Emma’s new film actually stars Richard Gere. Her latest project Maybe I Do is a romantic comedy in which a young couple who are contemplating the future of their relationship get their parents together for dinner, resulting in contrasting opinions about marriage.

The movie was written and directed by Michael Jacobs and also stars Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Luke Bracey, and William H. Macy. The film marks Jacobs' feature directorial debut.
