The 5 biggest street-style trends from Paris Couture Week SS23

Style notes for our spring wardrobe: feathers and oversized earrings

January 30, 2023

Couture Week is officially over. It’s hard to believe that Doja Cat stepped out in her red-to-toe Schiaparelli look, and Kylie Jenner in her controversial lion’s head dress a week ago already. Time flies when you’re having fun closely inspecting memorable couture looks.

There were plenty of styles on the runway that can easily be added to your wardrobe, and the street-style looks were no different. As always, couture week’s street-style served some of the most eclectic, showstopping ensembles, and notable trends that we’re 100% going to copy.

VIPs from the fashion set’s cream of the crop, to industry moguls and the world’s most coveted style influencers, pulled out all the stops to make a serious impression.

The biggest street-style trends from couture week 2023

Feather Trims

Caroline Daur

Tamara Kalinic

Valery Kaufman

Layers of feathers were out in full for force in various forms across the whole week. From dresses to coats and velvet jumpsuits with feather hems, a key style note for heading into spring is most definitely to purchase something with feather (or faux) texturing. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley notably wore a feather-trimmed blazer to Valentino’s couture show, which is the ultimate 2023 partywear trend to try this spring.

Oversized boaters

Sabina Jakubowicz

Ruth Wilson

Anna Dello Russo

As always guests sported a plethora of headwear, but there was a surge in boater hats that gave major Beyonce in her Formation music video vibes. And who doesn’t want to feel like Queen B for a day? If you’re hoping to make an entrance at the races this year, an oversized boater is perfectly reasonable – as demonstrated by Hollywood actress Ruth Wilson at the Schiaparelli show.

Textured red

Chriselle Lim

As much as citrus colours were the palette of the moment on the runway, red was the colour to wear on the street. Karlie Kloss wore a red cape whilst Chriselle Lim wore a red tweed co-ord for the Chanel show. Guests also rocked red tulle, pleats, leather and feathers. Some were more extravagant than others, though perhaps not as excessive as Doja Cat’s Swarovski ensemble...

Avant-garde statement earrings

Sabina Jakubowicz

Olivia Palermo

There was no shortage when it came to over-the-top ear bijouterie. Sabina Jakubowicz wore insane embellished wheel earrings whilst Olivia Palermo sported major silver and green dangle jewels on day one. If you’re looking for an easy way to add ‘wow’ to a look: this is it.

Puffer Jackets

Grece Ghenem

Yubin Shin

The perfect coat addition to our wardrobes right now (if you don’t already own one), as the classic puffer is clearly as on-trend as it is practical for this bitter weather. Guests wore the cosy jacket from midi to maxi, in various arm lengths and in all colours. Whatever your personal style may be, a puffer coat is an essential in any cool-girl’s wardrobe.
