Princess Beatrice has become a style muse over recent years after going through a major style transformation (her plethora of evening dresses is enviable).
Now the sister of pregnant Princess Eugenie has joined a list of aristocratic fashionistas putting a contemporary twist on the royal-approved classic tartan pattern -- monochrome plaid.

The criss-cross pattern often dips in and out as a trend in the form of tartan, gingham or houndstooth to name a few. But thanks to Chanel’s trademark tweed two pieces and our idolised British royals who have an approximate 200 year connection with tartan, the classic design is one that will never be a wasted piece to have in your wardrobe.
Beatrice attended the 20:40 round table event in collaboration with her foundation Big Change, of which she’s a founder and trustee of “ Beatrice is dyslexic and passionate about helping young people who learn slightly differently get the best results they can. Since she was 18 she has been an ambassador for Children in Crisis who build schools and provide learning opportunities in conflict zones.“

She wore a super flattering grey, black and white mini dress from Maje, adorned in a black and white checked pattern. The long sleeved dress contained an a-line skirt with a ‘v’ shaped design underneath the waistband, creating the ultimate contoured silhouette. She paired it with tights and suede black knee high boots – long suede boots are a prerequisite for a stylish royal, as proven by Princess Kate.

She first wore a similar design at the end of last year when attending the christmas carol concert, with a checked wool coat from Temperley London. But this muted, versatile style seems to have become a go-to for the globe's most fashionable aristocrats in 2023, and it’s perfect for elevating a smart-casual look.

Beatrice Borromeo (naturally) nailed a look that gave Serena Van Der Woodsen a run for her money. She wore a major mini-check two piece and calf-high boots from Dior’s AW21 couture collection to attend its SS23 couture show last week.
