We love how well-versed the British Royal family are when it comes to their ever-admirable sartorial agendas. But we especially love when they sport something from the high-street, proving that inexpensive pieces can be elevated with some simple styling tricks.
Yesterday, Princess Beatrice visited Queen Mary University of London in her first official outing of 2023 to meet with scientists who are working towards tackling skin cancer, as she is the newly appointed patron of the British Skin Foundation.

For the occasion she wore a Princess Kate-approved long sleeved midi dress and heels, donning a monochromatic patterned dress from Topshop. Midi dresses are ideal transitional pieces to have in your wardrobe as we slowly but surely step into Spring. Whether it’s worn with trainers or heels, layered with a cashmere jumper or a tailored blazer – it’s a super versatile garment that can be elevated for any occasion.
The princess sported black knee high boots with her patterned dress yesterday (understandably as this February weather is bitter). Her pointed leathers paired with a belted blazer gave the otherwise casual dress an elegant makeover.

A midi-dress and heeled boots is a royal go-to silhouette, particularly for The Duchess of Wales. Last week the stylish princess donned a Victoria Beckham midi dress paired with her ever-reliable Gianvito Rossi brown suede boots.
Though Kate’s VB dress was slightly more expensive than Beatrice’s £19.85 Topshop number, Prince William’s wife gave us plenty of inexpensive inspo by pairing her dress with a £45 waist belt and a £74 pair of gold earrings. She wore another pair of £75 hoops in the same week.

Naturally, the high-street dress Beatrice wore is already sold out. But there are ample affordable alternatives to shop, or exquisite designer pieces if you feel like treating yourself.
