Princess Diana’s most iconic look (other than her revenge dress), is her sweatshirt and cycling shorts off-duty combo. And what do the late princess and Emily Ratajkowskihave in common? Their ability to continuously create street style looks that every cool-girl wants to recreate, of course.
Emily Ratajksowki has had a busy week this New York Fashion Week, from closing Tory Burch in a look that paid homage to the visible lingerie trend, to sporting the ‘no pants’ trend for Jonathan Simkhai’s show on February 11. Yesterday she took a break from the runway and reverted back to her signature streetstyle, donning a two-piece and sneakers look that we’re certain Diana would approve of.

Em Rata channeled elegant off-duty in New York City
She stepped out in her native New York city in attire from Los Angeles brand Aya Muse. The wraparound skirt tied low around the waist, allowing the supermodel to don her signature silhouette: a bare midriff. She wore the fitted tailored jacket to match, paired with Nike X Tom Sachs General Purpose trainers – the style that has been her recent go-to sports shoe.
To complete her look that gave ‘smart casual’ a new literal meaning, EmRata wore a Barbiecore-esque pink baseball cap and a black Loewe Luna bag.

The one colour that Diana kept consistent through her various takes on athleisure wear, was navy. From her sweatshirts to her shorts and her baseball caps, if recreating her iconic streetstyle is on your to-do list this season, dark blue is the way forward.
Hailey Bieber is our other street style muse who has taken inspiration from the late princess on regular occasions (unsurprising as she admitted Diana is her style icon), whilst Kendall Jenner totally channelled Lady Di last month in a forest green windbreaker.

A supermodel’s off-duty agenda is clearly ‘nostalgia’, and we are here for it.
