Taylor Swift said it best when she sang “I just wanna stay in that lavender haze.” At least that’s true for a very stylish (would we expect anything less?) Jodie Turner-Smith, who unveiled the most exciting ‘glam’ of the 2023 BAFTAs

The actress, who is renowned for her avant-garde sense of style, wore Swarovski crystals on her face to amplify her stunning beauty look at tonight’s awards ceremony. The look was courtesy of her make-up artist Joey Choy, who she recently worked with on the shimmering green eyeshadow she rocked at the Brits earlier this month. "Seeing Jodie’s sparkly dress and jewellery, I had this idea to do crystal freckles so it comes down to do a fierce eyes to go with the freckles," Joey told Hello! Fashion.

The look featured elongated eyeliner which Joey topped up with Charlotte Tilbury's Hypnotising Pop Shot in the shade 'Ultra Violet' to "add the drama". Wearing a feathered lilac gown from Gucci, the 36-year old British actress dazzled onlookers with her OTT bejewelled ensemble. To compliment the outfit Jodie sported an equally glamorous make-up look with statement purple eyeshadow, a strong winged liner as well as the Swarovski crystals speckled on her cheeks which Joey says, "took about two hours."

"Jodie definitely loves to break the mould when it comes to red carpet looks," explained Joey, "We discussed all the way while we were developing the makeup, from colours to shapes. I enjoyed the process so much because Jodie is so open for ideas and loves to try new things."

The actress, who made her acting debut in 2013 as a siren in the series True Blood, has been in a relationship with actor Joshua Jackson in October 2018. They married in December 2019 and share a daughter who was born in April 2020. At the Film Awards red carpet she revealed she is joining the cast of hit British Netflix show Sex Education after fan favourite Ncuti Gatwa, invited her onto the show. “You may or may not see me in a little Netflix show called ‘Sex Education,'” she told journalists.

The actress has quickly become one of the red carpet’s most exciting style icons, and she doesn't shy away from an avant-garde look. She was voted People Magazine’s best dressed star in 2022. Helped by her A-list styling team Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, Turner gained attention for her stunning looks at last year’s Venice Film Festival, where she delivered a non-stop array of eccentric yet elegant looks.
