London Fashion Week AW23 is officially over. Time flies when you’re having fun scouring for eye-catching trends to recreate.

The fashion capital said it’s final goodbyes to the Queen of Punk, Dame Vivienne Westwood on the eve of the opening day of the week. But the style out on the streets – in typical Vivenne style – was anything but sombre.

It appeared London followed in New York’s street style footsteps with the addition of metallic accessories in various forms. But on this side of the pond, it was eye-catching handbags, romantic maxi dresses and ye old faithful double denim that was given an eclectic makeover that dominated the City.

Though the UK’s fashion agenda is difficult to summarise because it’s so beautifully diverse, there are two things we never miss with: elevated simplicity and eclectic-chic. As proven by the editors, the influencers and the other VIPs who made up the crowd for some of the most coveted fashion shows in the world.

5 of the biggest street style trends from London Fashion Week:

Fringing

Fringing was out in full force this London Fashion Week, giving the classic 1920’s detailing a makeover that provides another sophisticated way to elevate the classic. If maxi skirts are on your transitional weather wishlist, opt for one with a fringed hem to add some interest, but this subtle detailing on jackets, jumpers or sleeve cuffs also fit the bill.

Tulle dresses

Romantic silhouettes were high on the sartorial agenda but, as with fringing, it was given a contemporary edge thanks to the fashion set’s exquisite accessorising. Lady Amelia Windsor set the scene for the ‘frow’ wearing tulle by pairing hers with mega Miu Miu loafers. Ciinderella Balthazar on the other hand opted for a monochrome checked bag, proving that how you accessorise hyper feminine ensembles this season is totally dependent on your individual style.

Matching separates

Move over, oversized blazers. Fitted separates are the current ensemble in street style gurus’ wardrobes. From leather jackets with matching midi’s to white bombers and mini skirts and tailored suits in the cult-favourite Barbiecore colourway. Whatever silhouette you decided, make sure your separates are in matching tones.

Statement bags

The array of handbags at London Fashion Week was delightful. The streets were of course inundated with Loewe Puzzles and all kinds of glorious Chanels (shoutout to Ashley Graham for epitomising eclectic-chic with her Union Jack adorned Chanel bag. Love.), but many opted for alternative handbags as a way of adding an extra sprinkling of interest to a look. There were an array of oversized clutches tightly carried underarm, and funky metallics and motifs also caught eyes.

Elevated double denim

This supermodel approved-style that appeared back with a bang midway through last year, is going absolutely nowhere. Fashion Week guests elevated by adding denim neck corsages, accessorising with matching denim boots and experimenting with sculpted silhouettes. But don’t worry about being too experimental. A classic pair of jeans and denim jacket combo will suffice to stay super on trend.
