"Florals for spring… groundbreaking." Well maybe Miranda Priestly hadn’t heard about floral chokers when she made her iconically dismissive comment in The Devil Wears Prada.
Forget parachute pants, baby tees and cycling shorts, flower chokers are the only Y2K-inspired accessory you need to be seen in this spring. Floral appliques on chokers or 'neck corsages' are set to take over your Pinterest boards and Insta feeds in the coming months.

Flower chokers have been one of the key street style trends of 2023
Harry Styles rocked an over-sized version on the BRITs red carpet and the trend has already been touted by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber.
"Flower chokers first hit in the runway last year in Prabal Gurung’s 2022 resort collection and have since been spotted on Instagram trend-setters like Nina Sandbech and Matilda Djerf and have been making the rounds on TikTok, showing that these floral accessories are the trendiest Y2K accessory to have in your spring wardrobe," explains SilkFred’s Head Stylist, Megan Watkins.
"Year in, year out, florals have dominated spring trends and for good reason - their soft, feminine feel is timeless and perfect for incorporating colour. But this year, the flowers the fashion crowd are wearing are 3D, oversized and are taking the place of your favourite necklace."

How do I style a flower choker?
Want to modernise a little black dress? Flower chokers add an instant Magda Butrym- approved update. Worn with an oversized blazers sans shirt it adds a luxe softened polish to an otherwise ‘tough’ outfit. “The flower chokers (or neck corsages) we’ve been seeing on fashion it-girls like Kendall, Hailey and Bella are a far cry from one you may have coveted from Claire’s in the early noughties,” says Megan, “They’re certainly not styling them with a chunky waist belt and matching eyeshadow. They are worn with ultra-feminine silhouettes and are often in soft, pastel hues.”
