Talk about ‘wrong place, wrong time’. There could have been any moment in the night where Aubrey Plaza’s dress decided not to play ball, but of course it had to happen when she was onstage with her White Lotus cast as they accepted the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series at the SAG awards…
But, despite her near nip slip and her clear frustration on stage (lip reading came in handy), her glamorous cut out sequin dress was totally worth the wardrobe malfunction.

The Parks and Recreation alumni donned a bronze Michael Kors dress with the ultimate daring silhouette. Clearly Zendaya and Aubrey got the ‘cut-out dress with thigh-high split memo’, as Aubrey’s slinky sequin gown boasted a sultry split and a the ultimate crossover neckline that acted as the body of her gown, leaving her toned midriff bare.
“Cut-outs are having a major moment, and British trailblazer Poster Girl has been leading the way with its stretchy geometric designs,” explains Hello! Fashion’s Orin Carlin, “We're loving larger proportioned cut-outs, looking at the likes of Andreadamo, Valentino and A.W.A.K.E for inspiration.”

She paired the beguiling dress with a Charlotte Tilbury makeup look created by celebrity make up artist Kathy Jeung who said Aubrey was ‘giving glow’, and an old Hollywood glamour-approved curled bob created by Mark Townsend.

Before her underboob mishap, Aubrey presented an award with Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega, a moment viewers claimed was the highlight of the evening. Their hilarious speech was a nod towards claims that the two resemble each other, though they both feel they have nothing in common.

Shortly afterwards, Audrey stepped on stage to accept one of the night’s most coveted awards with her White Lotus team when Jon Gries – who played Jennifer Coolidge’s villainous husband – got her attention and whispered into her ear, seemingly pointing out that she was on the verge of an underboob wardrobe malfunction.
Though sheer dresses have been trending since last year, and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon as proven by London Fashion Week, the frustration on Aubrey’s face clearly showed that this wasn’t a look she was planning to serve on the night. As F. Murray Abraham gave their acceptance speech, Aubrey seemed to mutter ‘Jesus Christ’ as she looked seriously annoyed. Wouldn’t we all?
But, all’s well that ends well, as Plaza seemed to be in high spirits despite her near-nip slip, posing for photos later in the evening.
If only we all looked as stylish as Aubrey during a wardrobe mishap…
