The Oscars are merely days away, and already Halle Bailey and Julia Garner are setting the bar sky-high. The two actresses were dressed to the nines on Wednesday night as they attended Vanity Fair's A Night for Young Hollywood event in partnership with TikTok in Los Angeles, and we are 100% here for their pre-Academy Awards 'fits.
Julia Garner, Halle Bailey and Paul Mescal
Halle, star of Disney's upcoming live action version of The Little Mermaid, oozed high octane glamour in a vibrant red cut-out gown by Mônot. The striking piece featured subtle shoulder pads, long sleeves, and two panels, one bandeau-style section and one over her midriff.
The party-set adored label, based in New York, is renowned for its signature sultry aesthetic – defined by clean-cut lines, clinging silhouettes and, naturally, extreme cut-outs.
Skin-baring sections are high up on the agenda this season, as featured in SS23 collections by the likes of British trailblazer Poster Girl as well as Andreamo, Valentino and A.W.A.K.E.

Halle Bailey looked glamorous in Mônot
The 22-year-old looked showstopping in the figure-hugging design, topping off her look with subtle jewellery accents to allow her gown to take centre stage. Halle opted for rusty red round nails, gleaming rings and silver stud earrings. She kept her makeup relatively paired down – smooth, soft-focus skin, pops of highlighter and a neutral lip – except for her super curly, Bambi-like lash moment. Face-framing tendrils complemented the shape of her lashes and she wore the rest of her hair down her back.
Julia Garner took her cues from the Swinging Sixties
Inventing Anna actress Julia Garner also attended the bash, clearly another recipient of the unofficial cut-out memo. Instead the 29-year-old, who is due to star in a biopic centred around global icon Madonna, took her cues from the girls of the Swinging Sixties. Julia was giving major mod vibes in a cream high-necked A-line mini dress. The piece featured central shiny discs and chrome hardware which added a slightly Space Age feel, suitably topped off with chic go-go boots.
This year's Oscars outfits? We're calling it – they'll be all about the cut-outs…
