The Princess of Wales stepped out in London on March 21 to host the inaugural meeting of her new Business Taskforce for the Royal Foundation: Early Childhood.

She met with some of the country’s most influential business leaders to ask for their support in creating a societal change that will benefit the learning of children across the UK. She said in her speech: “From pregnancy to age five, our brains develop at an amazing rate, faster than any other age. During this time, we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. It is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and learn about the world in which we live.”

The princess wore a monochrome to her meeting in central London

For the occasion, the Princess strayed away from her ever-colourful agenda and stunned in a business-chic ensemble and used a styling strategy often adopted by the Duchess of Sussex.

Prince William's wife donned a pair of black slim leg cigarette trousers, paired with a crisp white high-neck base layer and a single breasted ivory blazer from her favourite brand, Alexander Mcqueen. She accessorised with a black pair of her trusty Gianvito Rossi pumps and stunning Asprey London earrings. Though the Princess is an unofficial queen of affordable accessories, her bijouterie meant business today, as her Oak Leaf hoop earrings will set you back a mere £5,000.

Monochrome is a go-to on Meghan’s chic sartorial agenda, providing looks that remain pared back yet are striking on the eye thanks to stark colour contrasts. She has donned black and white attire in the form of maxi skirt and shirt combinations, patterned mini dresses and elevated suits. Meghan is also a fan of the skinny leg silhouette, as proven earlier this month when she wore 2022’s coveted scarf-style jacket paired with slim black leather trousers.

Meghan Markle uses black and white often to create elevated, chic looks

When comparing and contrasting Kate and Meghan’s compelling royal style, the Princess of Wales is usually more experimental with her silhouettes and quirky patterns – take her recent 1940s-esque Erdem two-piece boasting a peplum jacket for example. The Duchess of Sussex however is a minimalist dressing aficionado, using elevated separates to create the most timeless looks.

Though a style muse in her own right, the Princess adopting a more refined agenda for today’s occasion paid off, proving that she has the ability to serve major looks in absolutely anything.
