In case you missed it, spring has well and truly sprung. Sure, the temperature is still leaving a lot to be desired, but our main takeaway from the clocks going forward is that winter is over and out.

The season of new beginnings calls for, nay demands, a wardrobe refresh – after all, they don't call it spring cleaning for nothing.

Perhaps less clear-cut than all the other seasons, this time of year can be tricky to nail in the outfit department. Wildly indecisive forecasts can catch you off guard, not to mention the dreaded April showers (the less said about them the better, we're in denial).

Retiring heavy-duty coats to the back of the wardrobe for the next few months feels necessary, and yet stepping out sans any form of outerwear feels reckless. If over winter you sadly missed the boat on snapping up that sell-out Mango shearling jacket (you know the one), let SS23 be your time to shine. Back with a major bang is the bomber, and this season the relaxed-fit shape is reigning supreme. Opt for a piece with utility zip detailing à la Stella McCartney or indulge in a puffy leather version by Loewe.

The key to mastering the art of layering lies in fabric weights. Keeping things light and use layers to create a sense of depth. Airy sheers are everywhere right now – try a floaty cami or brave a slinky midi skirt to enact your own personal spin on the visible lingerie trend.

Consider incorporating other standout trends from SS23's crop (think reds, 3D florals, thigh splits and the like) alongside classic separates that you already own such as polo neck tops, boxy sweater vests and starchy shirts.
