Rolex’s Milgauss is one of the most sought-after models in the brand’s 118 year history. Yet the revolutionary “scientists watch” has just been discontinued by the luxury watch retailer.
“Originally launched in 1956, the Milgauss has seen a few changes over the years. Made for scientists, it was a tool watch, squarely focused on being antimagnetic,” explains renowned watch expert and Rolex enthusiast Justin Hast.

Though designed for scientists, A-listers including Jennifer Aniston, Kate Cassidy, Jake Gyllenhall, Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell are proud owners of the now-discontinued Milgauss.
“Its name comes from the French word for one thousand, ‘mille’, combined with the magnetic fields that it can withstand; 1,000 gauss. Considered the most 'un Rolex, Rolex'", Hast continues, "its lightning bolt seconds hand is a thing of design magic... but like all good things, it must come to an end. RIP Milgauss."
Though there has been no official statement from the brand yet, Rolex have already removed the Milgauss page of its official website, leaving resale platforms and other marketplaces as the only option to purchase. However, as with all designer accessories – vintage and discontinued pieces skyrocket in price due to increasing rarity.
Milgausses are currently retailing between £7,000 and £10,000, of which the majority are pre-owned. If a luxury watch is on your wishlist, here is Hello! Fashion’s favourite luxury watches under £5000 that you can purchase right now:
