International star Taylor Swift has been in the business long enough now to know exactly how to turn heads at an awards ceremony. The 33-year-old looked radiant on Monday evening at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles and made a major statement in the wardrobe department.
The Lavender Haze singer rocked up to the star-studded bash wearing a piece that felt quite out there, edgier than her usual choices. Taylor hopped on a major 1980s fashion trend that has been gaining momentum over the last couple of seasons, rocking a stylish hood.

The global chart-topper displayed an effortless blend of high-octane glamour and cool-girl elegance at the awards ceremony. Styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer, Taylor looked fresh and modern in a rhinestone jumpsuit by French luxury label Alexandre Vauthier. The piece, featuring boxy shoulder pads (yet another classic 1980s trope), was from the brand's SS23 couture collection. Bringing drapery to the fore, the design also featured a wrap over neckline, an asymmetric skirt overlay and pointed boots embedded into the trouser legs.
Another star who has been flying the flag for the hood trend recently is none other than Beyoncé. The Formation singer can't get enough of them and as such they have cropped up in her outfit repertoire on multiple occasions – from a chainmail separate piece to an in-built version attached to a skin-tight Balmain dress.

Taylor's dazzling Alexandre Vauthier piece felt richly reminiscent of a shimmery bodysuit worn by Beyoncé in one of her Renaissance album promo snaps in which she posed with her hands over her head, again, giving off a hooded effect.
Nothing screams major drama like this in-built accessory, in fact, the style is something of a guaranteed eye-grabber. The hooded trend, which took the runways by storm in the later half of the 1980s, has re-entered the fashion sphere over the last couple of seasons – and we are very much here for it.
OG Alaïa muse Grace Jones would very much approve.
