Tom Wambsgans' (played by Matthew Macfayden) snide comment is the epitome of quiet luxury. The difference between the wealthy and the super wealthy. And quite frankly, it's genius screenwriting. He tells Greg Hirsch: “So, I hear you’ve made an enormous faux pas and everyone’s laughing up their sleeves about your date”.

Why are they laughing you may ask? Not because she has food in her teeth, or loo roll stuck to her shoe, but “Because she’s brought a ludicrously capacious bag.”
Yep: because she was carrying a large Burberry tote bag which, if we’re honest, isn’t even 'ludicrously capacious' in comparison to many of the oversized totes we saw during the AW23 fashion month (a la Victoria Beckham’s PFW show).
“What’s even in there?” Tom continues, “Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? I mean, Greg, it’s monstrous. You could take it camping, you could slide it across the floor in a bank deal.”
Savage, but brilliant. And, like everything that becomes even remotely recognisable after becoming a stint of TikTok fame, Succession and sartorial fans alike are desperate to get their hands on one.
