Fittingly, Victoria Beckham is unafraid of fashion experimentation. After all, she is the founder of her own eponymous clothing line and it wouldn't do for her to shy away from pushing the boundaries.
But as we live and breathe, the former Spice Girl is officially broadening her horizons when it comes to her own personal style.

The 48-year-old is known for her signature all-black colour palette, but she switched things up recently in a poolside photoshoot. Victoria branched out from her tried-and-tested dark shades in favour of vivid cerulean and punchy red, eschewing black hues for what the fashion world has monikered, 'dopamine dressing.'
The psychological connection between bright colours and our happiness is nothing new, but now we have a handy alliterative term to describe exactly what it means to dress to boost your mood. Dopamine dressing is a pretty simple concept. The idea is that a pop of colour in our clothing can alter how we think and act – for the better. Post-pandemic, dopamine dressing has been having a huge moment – in a world of minimalist style, colour-blocked outfits are going against the grain and making some noise.
The backless asymmetric piece she wore from her brand's SS23 collection, featured a wide halter neckline, a triangular midriff cut-out and a frill skirt overlay with a contrastingly coloured train.

The colour-block piece fuses "sophistication and playfulness" according to the label, and Victoria styled the unique piece with tomato red peep toe boots to finish off her poolside style moment.
For eagle-eyed VB style obsessives, the design will look familiar. Victoria first showed off the dress on Instagram when she shared some snaps from a private atelier fitting back in December 2022 in a black and white colourway. But clearly this season, the designer is all about championing the more standout hues.
Victoria's colourful poolside look is not the first time this spring that she has foregone her trademark black. Last week, the 48-year-old stepped out at her eponymous label's Dover Street store for a very special event. The designer was interviewed by art historian Katy Hessel about how art and colour inform and inspire her work on her clothing and beauty labels, and she wore a pale pink ruched midi dress for the occasion. She also wore chartreuse trousers during Paris Fashion Week, the first hint we got that she was to be embracing dopamine for the new season.
Pastels are by and large a spring style classic, but Victoria's recent looks feel fresh and interesting. Exuding an air of balletic polish, we can't help but admire the designer's new aesthetic.
Which shades are next on VB's list? Perhaps next she will be flying the flag for the fluorescents…
