On the subject of royal style, generally speaking, two's a crowd. Crown Princess Mary stepped out in an outfit over the weekend that felt acutely similar to a look worn by her sister-in-law Princess Marie at the very same occasion – and we couldn't help but do a double take.
Crown Princess Mary, who is married to Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark and heir apparent to the throne, looked characteristically chic on the balcony of the Amalienborg Palace on Sunday. Members of the Danish royal family congregated in a joint public appearance to celebrate the 83rd birthday of Queen Margrethe II.

Princess Mary opted for an elegant tailored suit by Australian minimalist luxury label Scanlan Theodore. She wore a dark grey single-breasted jacket with a fitted silhouette and sharp shoulder lines.
The 51-year-old styled her smart outerwear with matching straight-leg crepe trousers and a simple white blouse. She championed a royal style favourite, opting for Boss' stretch-silk crepe de Chine 'Banora' blouse – a style also adored by Spanish royal Queen Letizia.

Crown Princess Mary’s sister-in-law Princess Marie, who is married to Prince Joachim, donned a super similar outfit – also having received the unofficial crepe trouser suit and white blouse memo. She also wore a single-breasted jacket, but instead swerved away from neutrals and rocked hers in a playful bubble gum pink shade by Emporio Armani. Hers is sadly no longer available to buy, but we're currently loving this similar version by Aligne.
Princess Marie styled her blazer with matching palazzo trousers and a long-sleeved round neck blouse by understated luxury label Jane Atelier. She opted for subtle jewellery accents, a Hermès bangle, a gold-plated brooch and pink sparkly stud earrings by Mauboussin, whereas Crown Princess Mary opted for her beloved Hook & Eye Pearl Earrings by Dulong Fine Jewellery.
The Duchess of Sussex has spoken publicly about the fact that she rarely wore bright colours on royal engagements, not wanting to run the risk of stepping out in the same hue as a more senior member of the household. But one woman's outfit clash is another woman's style cohesion, and we personally can't get enough of Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie’s unofficial coordination.
