When it was announced that Prince Harry would be attending King Charles III's coronation sans Meghan Markle, the disappointment was palpable within fashion circles. We were so excited about her possible attendance, we had already started to place bets on what (or should we say who) she was going to wear to mark the occasion.
Now it's official, when it comes to the fashion, our eyes will be firmly fixed on the Princess of Wales, who will no doubt bring her trademark glamour to the historic event. "Princess of Wales is a title with huge weight for many reasons and there is no better head to carry that title than Catherine," explains esteemed stylist and creative director Lady Alice Manners, "When it comes to this coronation she will play a pivotal role, and have the world's eyes on her which she will of course rise to, especially on the fashion front."
So what will Princess Kate wear on the 6th May? "She will almost definitely wear bespoke McQueen," predicts Hello! Fashion's style editor Laura Weatherburn. In honour of the historic day, we spoke to the fashion set to find out what she should don for the coronation...

What Princess Kate should wear to the coronation according to three celebrity stylists:

"I think it has to be a ivory, cream, lightly embellished number, to doff the cap to the old school glamour of coronations gone by and of course there is no better brand to support her with this moment then her trusty McQueen relationship," explains Alice, "They read her right at those pivotal moments and this will be the same. I can’t wait to see her look - I’m preparing myself for classic, old school glamour."

"Once upon a time, a young girl dreamed about falling in love with a prince … she never thought that her dream will become true. Her name is Kate Middleton. The journey of life can be compared to a book, and as we know a book is divided into chapters. Today's chapter is about the most attended event of the year … Kings Charles's coronation. What is the best way to leave a mark by also respecting tradition and costumes? I guess is to be your pure self. So, in this case, Kate with the help of her stylist Lady Barbara Ayozie Fu Safira decided to be a flower. The sun is up, and she walks up to the Westminster Abbey radiant as rose, thanks to Roksanda's Radica dress. We look down and each step is the hope of a garden in spring, courtesy of Manolo Blahnik, of course. She’s holding a little treasure by Judith Leiber… a rose."
Laura Weatherburn
"While I’m sure The Princess of Wales' stylist will have tapped up Sarah Burton for a bespoke Alexander McQueen look, I’d love to see the Duchess dip into some key SS23 trends. This The Vampires Wife lace dress and matching gloves feels chic and contemporary, and adheres to the somewhat lengthy dress code... it also allows for an OTT tiara to take centre stage."
