What do fashion shows and basketball games have in common? Not much, besides the fact their front row is saved for only the most illustrious VIP guests whose outfit choices are equally as important as the main event.
Last night, British actress Lily James proved that her court-side style is as cool as her fashion show ‘frow’ looks watching the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The Pam & Tommy star eschewed her usual glamorous agenda and wore the coolest off-duty look that proved the power of the 90's inspired ensemble with a dash of the ‘quiet luxury’ trend.

Don’t be mistaken: we’re well aware a basketball game isn’t going to be a Met Gala extravagance. But we’ve seen fashionistas sport everything from Kendall Jenner's diamante thigh high boots to Nicki Minaj’s leather/mesh/corset ensemble in 2018 that literally became the game's main attraction.
Lily’s style agenda for the day was the total opposite. Understated, elevated and without a brand logo in sight – the quiet luxury trend has officially made it’s way court-side.
The 34-year-old wore straight leg, light wash denim jeans with a slightly oversized leather shirt-jacket which she left open to reveal a plain white ribbed base layer and two dainty pendant necklaces. She paired the look with black chunky boots (that had the faintest Versace meander embossed into the rim), angular cat eye sunglasses and a slicked back bun. Fashionistas from the 90s would absolutely salut her vintage-inspired look.

James isn’t the only one proving that the minimal clothing trend is taking over absolutely every occasion possible. Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner both wore probably the most laidback festival looks of all time at Coachella 2023.
Hailey wore a cropped white vest from new cool-girl brand Eterne, paired with light wash baggy jeans, a cap and the must-have earrings to buy this summer: gold statements. Kendall on the other hand donned black straight leg distressed trousers with a low rise waist and a matching black vest top from Australian brand St Agni, whose Instagram bio explicitly explains ‘Less is More’. Her longterm stylist Dani Michelle also tagged The Row in the supermodel’s festival look – the It-girl approved brand from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, that epitomises quiet luxury.
Lily is bang on trend as always and we can’t get enough.
