Considering Wimbledon 2024 is in full swing, with tennis champs from Emma Raducanu to Coco Gauff making a case for chic on-court style,  it comes as little surprise that tennis dresses are top of our sartorial agenda this season.

Not to mention, ever since Zendaya gave us a lesson in preppy tennis spectator style we haven't been able to stop thinking about how tenniscore would be a perfect summer-style adoption. All in all, there's no excuse not to have tennis attire on the brain.

Obviously, tennis-based ensembles have been around for decades, made famous by the likes of Wimbledon, Its iconic all-white dress code has influenced elegant and minimalist styles, while its sporty and active atmosphere has sparked the popularity of tennis-inspired fashion trends, such as pleated skirts and polo shirts.

When you have a Lacoste show at 4 but tennis practice at 6

In recent months tennis-inspired garments have made a stylistic comeback leading us to believe that the aesthetic is going to be everywhere this spring and summer. An array of sporty style adaptations were seen during fashion month A/W24, some donned on the street by famous faces and others on the catwalk of notable brands such as Miu Miu and Lacoste.  "As racket sports rise in popularity on and off the court (and on the big screen), we’re seeing people head to Pinterest to search for racket-ready fits before the season gets into full swing," explains Jenna Waller, Head of Fashion at Pinterest UK, "From tennis skirts and sweater vests to trainers and polo tops, the classic looks offer a preppy uniform for all occasions, with many 'saving' a selection of these to add to their upcoming outfits."

How I Chose the Best Designer Tennis Dresses:

How It Looks: This is an edit of stylish dresses so I aimed to choose the ones that were the most fashionable options out there. With plenty of designers to choose from, it was important to only pick the most chic.

Practicality: Ideally, a good tennis dress has shorts built in or pocks to hold tennis balls and bust support which these dresses provide.

Sustainability: Most of the of suggestions included feature eco-friendly or recycled materials.

Why you should trust me:

I have been playing tennis since age seven, when my stereotypically overbearing Brazilian mother decided I would excel at a sport. I think she chose tennis because she had a crush on the local tennis coach. Despite her best efforts I sadly do not have the tennis skills of Emma Raducanu, yet I can safely say I have excelled at having 'all the gear and no idea.' If you can't have a killer serve then you might as well be serving killer looks on court.
