The countdown to the 2024 Olympics is officially on, this year taking place in Paris from July 26th to August 11th.

While the event features the world's best athletes going head-to-head in hopes of winning gold for their country, our fashion-fixated brains can’t help but fixate on their athleisure uniforms.

Bringing together visual cultures from across the globe, one could argue that the Olympics is as much a fashion show as it is a display of superior sportsmanship. Spanning Southeast Asia to Africa, Europe to the Americas, each and every corner of pan-cultural fashion is showcased on the Olympic podium every four years.

The event is also a prime time for brands and sporting stars to collaborate. This year, Emporio Armani are designing for Team Italia, Decenio for Portugal and Nike for the US. Patriotism à la mode.

From Canada’s custom Lululemon drip to Australia's preppy-chic blazer and pleated skirt combos, we round up the most stylish Olympic uniforms (thus far) set to descend upon the city of lights later this year.

The chicest 'Team Uniforms' heading to Paris in 2024

Team Haiti

Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean is the name behind team Haiti's 2024 uniform. Stella, who has dressed faces from Beyoncé to Zendaya, joined forces with Haitian artist Philippe Dodard and used one of his paintings as an all-over print for the skirt and trousers.

Team Chinese Taipei

Taiwan - officially recognised as Chinese Taipei by the OCC, will this year sport a double denim tailored look by Justin Chou, head designer of Taiwanese label Just In XX. He gathered artisans from nine cities across the country to collaborate on the uniforms, creating the designs concept they've called "Taiwan Dream, Taiwan Power". These include Yen Yu-Ying who produced shoe tops made from banana silk woven leather. Lin Pei-ying who handcrafted Taiwan’s national flower the plum blossom to adorn the coat and artist Lin Guo-Qing who created the shirt and scarf print. Honestly? we could see this on the streets of Copenhagen during Fashion Week...

For this year's Olympic Games, Team Turkey partnered with famed Turkish luxury fashion house Vakko to create a series of sleek tracksuits, knitted cropped blazers, pleated midi skirts and stylised t-shirts in white and red.

Team Mongolia

Calling upon Mongolian-based brand Michel&Amazonka, a sister duo who are known for exceptional tailoring that heroes traditional Mongolian dress in a modern and stylish way. Both the men's and women's uniforms nod to the country's traditional dress code, featuring intricate brocade embroidery in shimmery gold thread and breathable sports fabric intertwined with rich, crisp white silks.

Team Ireland

The Irish team have joined forces with Irish womenswear label and fabric producer LW Pearl to create custom embroidered jackets complete with on-trend shamrocks and the names of each athlete's counties.

Team Portugal

Opting for elegance and sophistication, Mediterranean-based brand Decenio is behind this year's Portuguese Olympic ensembles. Inspired by the heritage motifs of Portuguese handicrafts, Decenio designed the garments' pattern with charming motifs of love in mind.

Team Netherlands

This year, the Dutch Olympic Team has turned to Amsterdam-based brand The New Originals to curate a series of bold tracksuits. Each design has been intricately tailored and features badge motifs and piping detailing.

Team USA

While the Team USA track and field unitards designed and produced by Nike have been under scrutiny for their "impractical" design, the rest of the team's uniforms champion red, white and blue in the chicest way possible. The 'fits of Team USA golf stand out, designed by famed golfwear brand, J.Lindeberg. Think preppy chic pleats, sleek cutout long sleeves and vibrant red polos. "We are thrilled to be the official apparel partner of the USA men's and women's golf teams in Paris and Los Angeles," said Hans-Christian Meyer, CEO of J.Lindeberg.

Team GB

The British Olympic Team have called on Adidas once again to design and produce this year's uniform. Featuring lots of navy blue and accents of white and red, the uniforms all embody that street-style charm that Adidas is celebrated for. Cropped red jumpers adorned with 'Great Britain' are at the forefront of the women's selection, while matching tracksuit bottoms and long sleeves with thumb holes pepper the men's. Each piece of the collection has a patriotic Union Jack incorporated somewhere, even if it's discrete.

Team Australia

On April 17, our friends down under showcased Team Australia’s official Paris 2024 Olympic formal uniform, consisting of structured teal blazers, pleated yellow and white skirts, crisp white sneakers, side bags and linen shorts. This marks the inaugural inclusion of the Australian Olympians' Oath embroidered inside the breast pocket of each blazer. What's more, the jacket linings will bear the names of all 301 Australian Olympic champions. The scarf displays Indigenous artwork titled 'Walking Together' by Olympic boxer Paul Fleming, while the pocket square features 'Ngalmun Danalaig' by Torres Strait Island artist David Bosun.

Team Canada

Canadian-owned athleisure giant Lululemon was called upon to create this year's Olympic uniforms for Team Canada - and we’re only a little jealous of the team's custom Lulu. From red and white jacquard bomber jackets, to matching short and shirt sets and vibrant red crop tops, Team Canada is pulling up to Paris in serious style. Throughout the design phase, Lululemon conducted feedback sessions and product testing involving 19 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes representing 14 diverse sports. This allowed them to gain insights into the distinct physical and mental requirements of the athletes during the Games.

Team France

France is the top-dog fashion metropolis for a reason, living up to it's rep by teaming up with Le Coq Sportif to kit out their 800 athletes in seriously chic leather bomber jackets, sleek white suits for both men and women, red, blue and white ombre tracksuits and a variety of high-performance activewear for competing.

Team France - Opening Ceremony

As for the host nation's opening ceremony ensembles, LVMH and Berluti joined forces to create navy blazer vests, silk slip skirts and leather loafers. Over the past few months, stylist Carine Roitfeld and Berluti collaborated closely with athletes themselves, as well as the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, and the French Paralympic and Sports Committee. "Every one of the Maison's teams devoted months of energy and creativity to designing an outfit that embodies true elegance à la française," explains the brand.

Team Italy

It comes as little surprise that fashion capital Italy has beautifully crafted team kits for the Olympics. The official 2024 kit has been designed by EA7 Emporio Armani, the Official Outfitter for Team Italy at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The collection was unveiled during the presentation of the Emporio Armani Men’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, where six Olympic and six Paralympic athletes, competing in various disciplines at the Games, walked the Armani/Teatro catwalk in sportswear pieces created especially for this momentous sporting event.
