The icon that is Lily James recently attended the afterparty of her latest play Lyonesse in a stunning Emilia Wickstead grey dress, giving office-core glamour a whole new lease on life.
A style icon in her own right, it’s hard to find an outfit from Lily James that we don’t love, but this dress might just take the cake for our favourite after-party dress trend this year, particularly as it is an ultra-contemporary look created by one of the Princess of Wales' go-to designers.

Why do we love this look?
Well for one, the dress itself is stunning. Perfectly tailored to fit James’ curves and draped in all the right places, this dress is elegant, sophisticated and a real eye-catcher with the off-the-shoulder silhouette, a huge trend this autumn. What we love most about this look is that it’s not your traditional after-party ensemble. Often stars opt for something a little more risqué for a night out, but not Lily. This look exudes power and prowess whilst giving off major approachable “I want to be your friend” energy.
Emilia Wickstead is also a royal favourite designer. Princess Kate often turns to the British label for various occasions, from International state visits to Wimbledon finals.
Why was Lily James celebrating?
Stepping off the stage after her opening night debut and into a celebratory afterparty attended by co-stars and theatre moguls, Lily James enjoyed a much-deserved soiree.
What is Lyonesse?
If you haven't been keeping up with the theatre gossip then let me enlighten you with a rundown of this season's most anticipated production.
With a star-studded cast, including Lily James and Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, Lyonesse is the latest comical and passionate play from British playwriting icon, Penelope Skinner. The play sees Elaine, played by Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, take the role of a reclusive yet talented actress who goes missing under very mysterious circumstances. 30 years on from this tragic incident, she calls upon Kate, played by Lily James, a young film executive to bring her story to light. Taking place in Elaine's Cornwall residence, the question of who is controlling the stories we tell is raised.
I don’t want to give away too much, but believe me when I say if you’re in London from now until December 23rd, you should book your tickets.
