Those who crave comfort will be thrilled to learn that baggy jeans are making their grand comeback right about now. Skinnies have been long-gone for a while, and we've even hit pause on our once-devout commitment to the straight-leg – the loose-fit 1990s favourite is having something of a major resurgence, and we're 100% here for it.

Baggy jeans can be super flattering, especially during the transitional period between winter and spring when layering is high up on our sartorial agenda. Whether you’re faithful to the baggy silhouette, or simply want to try the trend, there's a pair to suit any look.

Whilst the internet can be a minefield and deciding which pair to invest in is quite a feat in itself, we've rounded up ten of our favourite pairs available to buy right now.

How I chose:

  • Aesthetic: I've chosen jeans that all have a baggy silhouette that look chic and stylish from a range of high street and designer brands.
  • Price: I've selected items from a wide range of price points to try and suit most budgets, without compromising on quality.

Why you should trust me:

I am Hello! Fashion’s Style Writer, with seven years of experience within the fashion journalism industry. I have a love for fashion and spotting upcoming trends, coveted pieces and scouring online for irresistible new-in finds.

I'm usually a die hard straight-leg jean fan, however, I got the Ayla jeans from Citizens of Humanity and was instantly converted to the wide-leg jean. Due to my slim frame, I could never find a style that suited me without looking like I was wearing my dads jeans, however this pair perfectly fit my waist and leg with their slight crop, whilst still looking stylish and well-fitting.

Skylights is the shade I went for as a good blue jean is the ultimate wardrobe staple piece and can be styled in so many ways - I now need them in every single colour. I wore them with a pointed heeled boot and black blazer for a quick, pulled together look, but could easily be dressed down with a jumper and trainers.

How to wear

The oversized fit may not be for everyone on the surface, but if you want to give it a go and incorporate it into your own wardrobe, we’ve assembled eight ways to style baggy jeans for you to take inspiration from and incorporate into your own wardrobe.

Double Denim

Wearing double denim and getting it right can be quite daunting. We love the contrasting denim colours in this jacket, making it so much easier to style - match the jeans to one of the colours in the jacket. Alternatively, find an exact match jean and jacket set so the colours are exactly the same.

Fresh whites

Opting for a white jean in winter will bring a fresh, crisp feel to your look. Animal print is a huge trend right now, so bring it into your look with your top half or accessories. Sophia Geiss’ cow print jacket is at the top of our wishlist.

Sleek tailoring

A quick way to elevate a baggy jean is through tailoring. Adding a simple white shirt instantly makes the outfit feel so much smarter and put together. Or go all out and add a tie with a matching corset à la Sarah Ndiaye.

Patchwork© Christian Vierig

Patchwork

Make your jeans the core statement of your outfit. Opting for a printed or patchwork pair let them do the talking. Style with a simple piece on your top half and keep accessories minimal to keep all focus on them.

Oversized knits

As we descend into autumn and the temperatures drop, we’re frantically reaching for our knitwear. An oversized knit tucked into your jeans is a quick put-together look whilst keeping warm and comfortable at the same time.

Fitted tops© Christian Vierig

Fitted tops

We love the juxtaposition of styling a fitted top with a baggy jean. It's an easy way to cinch your waist and make your torso look longer, especially if the top has a long hemline. Just add some statement accessories for your finishing touch.

Core capsules

To easily incorporate baggy jeans into your everyday wardrobe, style it with core capsule pieces that you undoubtedly already own. A basic white tee and a trench coat are staple pieces throw-on pieces that easily elevate any look.
