Y2K devotees and Beyoncé fans alike will be thrilled to hear that cowboy boots are still utterly relevant even as 2024 draws to a close.

The statement show is infused with playfulness and while leaning towards costume-fare, has neatly settled into regular rotation among fashion lovers, with many of us reaching for a cowboy boot before a trusty pair of trainers.

Try opting for a bold pair - think metallic finishes, vibrant shades or contrasting topstitching - as party season kicks up a notch.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to rocking the larger-than-life boot. Fringed suede tan styles are ideal if you're paying homage to OG Glastonbury boho girlie Sienna Miller, whereas flashy disco-esque shades are very Renaissance Beyoncé.

Are they in for 2024?

Arguably, the biker look has pipped cowboy styles to the post, taking top spot as the most covetable boot of the moment. But the Western-inspired shoe style has practically transcended the trend cycle at this point, carving itself out as a bona fide footwear classic and returning to the runway season upon season.

Louis Vuitton AW24 Menswear Collection

True to form, for AW24 Western touches were spotted at Louis Vuitton, Schiaparelli and Versace. At Vuitton's menswear show, cow print and chocolate leather topped off with Cowboy hats made for a truly lasso swinging collection.

With Denim

Yes yes, this might be a little predictable, but as this stunning Fashion Week guest proves, denim doesn't have to just be a pair of jeans. We consider this layering masterful.

Minimalists needn't despair, we're not leaving you out - as Aylin Koeni proves, a slick pair of cowboy boots teamed with a monochrome ensemble can look luxe without being too loud.

With a Party Dress

The joy of the cowboy boot is that it looks at home while running errands and our on the town in equal measure. We love the juxtaposition of sequins, long-sleeve cotton and a trusty pair of embroidered boots.

With Jeans

Well of course we had to slide this in here too. This guest was spotted outside the MSGM show in flawless crisp denim and a sumptuously soft leather coat. Easy, effortless, gorgeous.

With a Midi Skirt

A great tip for colder climates, a cowboy boot peeking out from under a midi skirt will give maximum effect but without any pesky chilly ankles.

With a Colour Clash

If we'd spotted this chic guest at Copenhagen Fashion Week we would have run after them and demanded to know where they bought these unbelievable boots.

Leaning into the Western aesthetic but with a decidedly feminine energy, as spotted at the Helmstead show.

With a Jolly Knit

We've been lusting after this Moschino jumper for weeks so are very jealous of  Christinna Kua right now.

With Sequins

The mega sequins, the mix-and-match approach to dressing and the incredible scene stealing white cowboy boots. Top marks all round ladies!

With Patent Leather

This outfit is a masterclass in going against the grain - a demure midi skirt? Not if made from hot red patent leather. A humble rugby shirt? Not if adorned with sequins. This is how you utilise texture in an outfit to maximum effect.

With Florals

Proving that florals don't have to be retired when the leaves start falling. This cute corsage knit and ditsy print maxi skirt are perfect fare for Autumn/Winter, especially when teamed with Western boots.

With Romantic Ruffles

Staying true to the Western aesthetic with denim touches and a trusty jacket, these romantic ruffles and the addition of a colour add a touch of whimsy to proceedings.

With a Micro Mini

There's something so cool-girl coded about a micro mini and knee high cowboy boots. Bonus points for the mega collar knit and seriously sparkly earrings seen here.

With an OTT Dress

From the knees up this is a gala-worthy ensemble that oozes fun formality, but the choice of cowboy boots nudges it into nonchalant territory. Inspired.

With a Peter Pan Collar

We've been waiting patiently for years for the Peter Pan collar to quietly creep back into circulation, so we were thrilled when we clocked this gorgeous gingham number, enhanced by its pairing with cowboy boots that lean into biker territory.
