As we approach the New Year, many of us will be thinking about making some changes to our homes, whether it's renovating and redecorating, or simply adding some new accessories or cushions to give a room an on-trend update. With that in mind, we caught up with Nadia McCowan Hill from Wayfair to find out the top interiors trends for autumn/winter 2017, and the key pieces we should look out for.

Black and Gold:

This season there is a new take on the popular trend for black and gold tones. Instead of opting for anything ornate, look out for strong pieces with a matte finish and a streamlined aesthetic to channel this look.

Material Mix:

From industrial concrete to gleaming metallic, this season's interiors are a medley of contrasting textures. Exposed brick, raw wood, weathered ceramics and beaten metals all sit alongside one another, for a sophisticated yet artfully undone look where anything goes.

Nordic Lights:

Neutral knits and soft candle light meet weathered wood and tactile rugs in this cosy trend. Wayfair suggests keeping the look chic by opting for a restrained palette of soft neutral tones with a few pastels thrown in for good measure.

Dark and Dramatic:

The interiors world's love affair with the dark side continues as we head into winter, with the style savvy opting for inky hues for their ceilings, floorboards and walls. Wayfair are channelling the look with rich velvet pieces in tones of teal and aubergine, and adding interest to our walls with darkly beautiful art.
