Dermot O'Leary's wife Dee Koppang has shared a rare glimpse inside their London home as she unveiled the newest update they have made to their décor – installing carpets on their staircase. The new mum revealed the beautiful patterned runner is the only place they have carpet in the house, as it doesn't typically fit with her signature Scandi style.

"Fisher Price – My First Carpet! Being a Scandi, carpet has never really been on my radar before NOW! Toto & I are majorly into our new @alternativeflooring @divinesavages stair runner… (Please don't scratch…)," Dee captioned three photos on her Instagram page.

Dee Koppang revealed she and Dermot have bought their first carpets

The first showed Dee and Dermot's pet cat sitting on the new carpet, a blue fan print runner that sits at the centre of their white painted staircase and is held in place with brass rods. The second shows the beautiful hallway in full, showing how it is painted a pale grey colour across the bottom of the walls and white across the top half.

The space is filled with natural light thanks to a window halfway up the stairs, and the couple have maintained minimalistic décor throughout, with a brass sunburst mirror on the wall providing the only decorative touch.

Dermot and Dee live together in north London with their pet cats and baby son Kasper, who was born at the end of June. The new dad has since opened up about life with their newborn, revealing they were in "that sort of lovely foggy period of just, kind of sleepless love".

The radio host also opened up about his early experience of fatherhood during an interview with James Bay on Radio 2. "Every now and again you hear noises and you go, 'What’s that noise?', And then you go, 'Oh, that’s my child!'" he confessed.
