The Queen's Scottish residence Balmoral Castle has been affected by Storm Eunice – and a new video shows it covered in a blanket of snow.

The official Twitter account uploaded a clip on Friday to show the snow falling around the residence and it looked like it was straight from a fairytale. Despite the severe red weather warning, the video actually looks rather serene, showing the grounds and the castle itself covered in a thick layer of crisp white snow.

"Wonderful," replied a follower and many clicked the like button to share the love.

Luckily, the castle hasn't had to be closed as it is not open to the public at this time of year anyway. The website reads: "Balmoral Castle is the Scottish holiday home to the Royal Family and this year the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shops and coffee shop will be open to the public on a daily basis from Friday 1 April until Tuesday 2 August."

Another of the monarch's homes was affected by the storm, with Sandringham closing its garden to visitors for fears over public safety.

A message displayed on the Instagram Stories of Sandringham Estate explained: "Closure notice. Wednesday 16 February. Due to the forecast high winds Sandringham Gardens will close today a 1pm (with last admissions at midday).

"The safety of visitors and staff is our priority – those visitors with tickets already booked for this afternoon will be contacted and refunded automatically. If you are planning to visit this week, please check before you travel for the latest opening information on our social media and/or website www.sandringhamestate.co.uk."

The Queen is currently residing at Windsor Castle and its Berkshire location means that it falls under a red weather warning area. The advice in these regions from the Met Office is to stay indoors, so we're sure Her Majesty is following suit!
