Following news that Brad Pitt has sold his Los Angeles estate in a gated Los Feliz community, the new owner of the house has been revealed.
The actor first bought the home nearly thirty years ago in 1994 for a reported $1.7 million – a far cry from the $39 million he just sold it for – from Cassandra Peterson, known for her portrayal of Elvira in film and TV appearances.
Now, Entertainment Tonight has disclosed that the home's new owner is billionaire heiress Aileen Getty, heir to the Getty Oil fortune, and whose family is also behind Getty Images.
Getty, 65, is the granddaughter of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, who also founded the famous Getty Museum in Los Angeles in 1953. A climate activist, she has previously funded the Climate Emergency Fund, and has supported anti-oil groups such as the Just Stop Oil collective.
Her brother Mark Getty founded visual media company Getty Images in 1995. Her other brother, John Paul Getty III, was kidnapped by the Calabrian mafia in 1973 when he was 16, and his grandfather famously refused to pay the $17 million ransom. He instead eventually paid $2.2 million after an Italian newspaper received one of the teenager's ears. He passed away in 2011 at age 54. His son is actor Balthazar Getty, who he had when he was 18 with then wife Gisela Getty.

Not only has it been revealed that Getty is the new owner of the home – which is more akin to a compound – but the outlet also gave insight into the home exchange nature of the sale.
As the billionaire heiress bought Brad's home, he in fact bought her own home not far away, though he is somewhat down-sizing.

The residence he sold – which he once shared with ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six kids, Maddox, 21, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14 – sits on 1.9-acres, and the main home, which is 6,700 square feet, has five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
However, the residence goes far beyond the main property, as over the years, Brad began to buy several neighboring houses – "like 22," Elvira recently revealed – in order to expand his already massive property into a proper compound.
Now, following the home switch with Getty, he is the owner of a $5.5 million residence nearby, which boasts 2,000-square-feet and has three bedrooms and 1.75 bathrooms. It was previously owned by Maroon 5 member James Valentine.
