The Lionesses did England proud as they sailed through to the FIFA World Cup Final in Australia earlier this month. Despite their 1-0 loss to Spain, the team are no doubt proud of their history-making achievement as they recover with their partners and families at home.

While their football talent takes the team across the globe, the Lionesses have surprisingly down-to-earth lives with their partners and families back in the UK - and occasionally they share glimpses via social media so fans can admire their private homes.

"Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, despite what the ‘gram might tell you. Whatever the discipline, whatever the dream, there are no magic beans or shortcuts to success — just a hell of a lot of hard work, resilience & determination in the face of adversity, and many many sleepless nights! There's something about Mary

Mary Earps was voted the world's top female goalkeeper at FIFA's The Best ceremony in February, a billing she more than lived up to in Australia this summer. Her acceptance speech demonstrated the same passion she exhibits week in week out on the pitch, with a rallying cry as roar and emotional as the one that followed her incredible penalty save in the World Cup final.

"This is for anyone who has ever been in a dark place, just know that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Sometimes success looks like this, collecting trophies, sometimes it's just waking up and putting one step in front of the other. There's only one of you in the world, and that's more than good enough. Be unapologetically yourself."

There truly is something about Mary.

The England goalkeeper hit headlines for her stellar performance in the Women's World Cup, and has remained in the spotlight after questioning a statement from Nike after the sportswear giant refused to retail a replica of her goalkeeper's jersey.

Mary spoke out before the World Cup when fans were unable to buy the women’s version of England’s goalkeeper jersey, questioning why the men's version is on sale.

"@Nike is this your version of an apology/taking accountability/a powerful statement of intent?" Mary wrote on her Instagram this week, after Nike issued a statement claiming they recognise the desire for a women's jersey and will work towards future solutions.

The Golden Glove winner has since started a Change.org petition in support of all existing and aspiring female goalkeepers around the world, which has gained 150,000 signatures.
