Who is Tom Fletcher?

"Within a couple of months of moving into the band house, I had three new best friends. Their names were Danny, Harry and Dougie. No matter what the future held for us, our friendship was something we now know we could always rely on," says Tom Fletcher.

He was born on 17 July 1985 in Harrow, London to parents Bob and Debbie, who always supported his love for music. After training at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, Tom starred as Oliver Twist in the hit musical Oliver! in London's West End, aged 10.

His Career

Before joining McFly, the singer and guitarist auditioned for the band Busted, but was cut shortly after when the record label decided the band would have three members instead of four. He was, however, offered a place in the songwriting team. It was when Tom met Danny Jones at a boy-band audition, he decided to form his own band – McFly.

The duo moved into a London hotel room for two months, where they wrote songs and eventually recruited drummer Harry Judd and bassist Dougie Poynter in 2003.

In 2004 the band got their "big break," touring with Busted, and from there they went on to sell more 8 million records with Tom co-writing all the band's tracks. At the BRITs in 2005 McFly won Best Pop Act and the song All About You, which Tom wrote for his wife – then girlfriend – novelist and actress Giovanna Falcone, won best single.

His Family Life

The popular rocker got engaged to Giovanna in 2011 and the pair tied the knot in 2012. Two years later, in March 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy called Buzz Michelangelo.

The couple are also doting parents to sons Buddy and Max. Tom and his family live in an incredible five-bedroom property in Northwood, Middlesex. Their gorgeous home includes a music studio, indoor cinema and a sleek home office.

His Books

Like Giovanna, Tom has also published a novel. With his band-mate Dougie Poynter he co-wrote: The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas. The hugely successful children’s book sold approximately 72,000 copies as well as being rewarded the title of most popular children’s novel of 2012.

He has since written subsequent books including the likes of There's a Monster in Your Book and The Christmasaurus and The Winter Witch.
